Global Commodities provides risk management solutions, develops investor products and makes markets in metals, energy, and agricultural commodities around the world.  The business is focused on serving corporate (producers and consumers of commodities) and institutional clients, in developing client-driven solutions matched with world-class client service and execution.

 

GC Business Management undertakes a wide variety of activities in support of the business’s objectives. These are chiefly around three core responsibilities: strategy & growth, financial analysis & planning, and regulatory & controls.  The specific remit of the Executive Director’s role includes:

  • Business Manager for Global Energy, comprising of Oil, Gas, Power, Coal and Emissions
  • Business Manager for Americas based cross-commodity initiatives
  • Business Manager for non-core portfolio (Principal Investments, Business Simplification and Project Jewel)
  • Managing 1 Senior Associate and 1 G&FM rotating analyst
 

The business management team is located on the commodities trading floor, and works directly with trading, sales, ATS and all support/risk functions (credit, market risk, operations, technology, legal, compliance, business controllers, finance, etc.).

 

The BM will be responsible for leading and/or supporting the following key 2018 business priorities:

  • Driving key growth initiatives within the Energy business (Renewables, Gas Basis, Sovereign Hedging Programs)
  • Leading Commodities expense savings initiatives
  • Partnering with Strategic Market Infrastructure Group to deliver new technology across Markets
  • Delivering on key regulatory simplification commitments
  • Exploring machine learning initiatives applicable to Commodities
  • Divestiture of non-core assets
  • Managing quarterly business reviews with the FRB, FDIC and OCC


Skills Required:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role; Commodities product knowledge is mandatory
  • External relationship management (regulatory, broker, and exchange engagement)
  • Knowledge of regulatory regime (MIFID, DF, NCMR)
  • Ability to challenge others and drive change
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and challenging deadlines; good project management and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing others
  • Strong financial acumen – Trading P&L, Balance Sheet, Capital and RWA
