Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm.
 
The Core Foundation Services team (CFS) is responsible for providing end to end support for critical technologies that are used across the company. This includes Configuration and Orchestration, Identity Management, Name Services, Enterprise Monitoring Solutions, and automation tools used to manage these technologies.
 
CFS is seeking a cloud capable capacity engineer to support firm-wide public & private cloud capacity management. Successful candidates will be part of a global team responsible for the development of an integrated eco-system of tools and services to support the deployment of over 1,000+ applications across multiple platforms. The responsibilities of the role include all aspects of technical capacity management in support of the service owner, the core development team and key stakeholders across the firm.
 
Responsibilities
  • Function as a cloud capacity planning expert
  • Defines cloud capacity standards, process and govern capacity planning strategies 
  • Engage with other Capacity engineers and Application Owners, at varying skill levels, to help understand future cloud capacity needs and identify optimization opportunities
  • Closely partner with internal technology and cloud teams for capacity planning functions
  • Develop and extend vision for improving the efficiency of our cloud footprint
  • Work with AWS and other CSPs to drive a solution roadmap that optimizes for the requirements of JPMC
  • Continue to drive adoption with our LOBs to improve utilization of cloud resources
  • Evaluate new cloud offerings and implement instance migration strategies across services
Essential Skills
  • Deep familiarity with capacity management for large, heterogeneous workloads
  • Strong capacity management planning, analyzing, trending and forecasting skills.
  • Proficient in ITIL capacity management fundamentals
  • Ability to manage large, critical cross-organization programs and Partner with multiple stakeholders to meet SLA's/SLO's
  • Deep understanding of system hardware, network and application characteristics
  • Experience with large-scale, multi-tier, complex applications
  • Detailed understanding of software and architectural performance factors
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a customer-focused attitude
  • At least 3 years programming with any of the following languages: Python, R, Java
  • Experience creating and delivering structured training and presentation materials
  • Positive, “can do” attitude.
Winning Qualities
  • AWS/cloud experience a plus with familiarity with AWS tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.
  • Experience optimizing compute sharing across batch and online workloads.
  • Experience managing performance test activities from strategy, design, planning and execution using various monitoring/analysis/test tools (i.e. AppDynamics, Wily Introscope, DynaTrace, etc.); reporting results and presenting recommendations.
  • Capacity or performance experience with any industry standard capacity managements tools (BMC, TeamQuest, Metron, Splunk, etc.)
  • Infrastructure and Application Performance, Trending and Forecasting Analytical skills.
  • Experience on any of the Cloud Efficiency Management tools like Cloudhealth, Cloudyn, Cloudability, etc.
