Corporate & Investment Bank Appraisal (CIBA) provides commercial and residential real estate valuation services globally to the CIB and CIO lines of business both US domestic and International.  As part of Corporate & Investment Appraisal (CIBA), this position will be dedicated primarily to the CIB groups that require real estate appraisals for secured lending. 
The Senior Commercial Review Appraiser will be responsible for engaging and reviewing external appraisals of all types of commercial property types.  A broad geographic focus is needed as assignments occur throughout the entire US and Canada. The senior reviewer will engage 3rd party vendors to prepare appraisal reports on real property for various lending groups in connection with real estate related financial transactions.  The reviewer will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing appraisal reports for compliance with JPMC policies, federal and state regulations including FIRREA, and professional appraisal standards (USPAP), as well as determining the reasonableness of the value conclusion. Assignments will be moderate to complex and the coordination of multi-property portfolio assignments is not unusual. Current experience in valuing and reviewing a variety of major property types is required.  Particular emphasis is placed on proficiency and experience with Argus software for valuing investment grade real estate.
  • State Certified General real estate appraiser with a minimum of 10 years of commercial appraisal experience.  Commercial appraisal review experience is strongly preferred.    
  • 4-year College Degree
  • MAI designation or completion of all Appraisal Institute courses and achievement of all levels of appraisal experience required for the MAI designation or its equivalent.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office suite products and an advanced knowledge of Argus.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Flexible team worker with ability to manage priorities and multitask effectively in a busy environment

  • Good level of independence and capability in undertaking commercial/residential portfolio valuations
  • Experience of handling/analyzing large amounts of data using Excel
  • Demonstrate adherence to high quality reporting and control standards
  • Need to be confident in dealing with senior appraisers at the external valuation firms
  • Good communicator, able to liaise with fellow Appraisers and impose reporting quality
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task
