As a member of our Software Engineering Group you will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You’ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. You’ll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what’s being developed. Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key. And best of all, you’ll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the world.
Our Software Engineer within ECS File Transfer Services role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
Work closely with business and service delivery team to ensure appropriate business measures are defined
Create technical design recommendations for developing and integrating programs per written specifications
Examine applications to ensure adherence to Application Engineering guidelines, processes and procedures
Utilize multiple programming languages and software technologies to ensure applications are suitably fit for use and admissible for maintenance/upgrades
Test, modify, and implement application codes; make standard modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with high-level specifications, application support and industry standards
Evaluate service level issues and suggested enhancements escalated by Service Delivery Team to diagnose and address underlying system problems and inefficiencies
Engage third party suppliers on applications support issues
Experience in core Java
Experience in J2EE, Struts, Hibernate, Spring frameworks
Hands-on experience in developing multi-tier web applications using Java, J2EE, MVC, JDBC, Servlets, JSP, HTML, JQuery, AngularJS, JSON and XML
Good understanding with hands on experience in building SOA and RESTFul API’s
Strong knowledge of server side design patterns and continuous delivery principles
Good understanding with hands on experience in TDD, Junit, Jenkins, Maven and Ant
Good understanding of spring and other open source frameworks
Good knowledge of relational database such as Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exposure to cloud computing is a plus
Exposure to scripting languages such as python, shell and perl
ECS – Enterprise Compute Services (ECS), part of Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI), which is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services across the firm. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm. ECS provides and supports the global enterprise systems that host business applications at the core of JP Morgan Chase's business proposition. Platforms include zSeries mainframes; iSeries, Tandem and OVMS Large Midrange Systems; and File Transfer Services which provide cross-platform data movement services.
You will design, develop, code, test, debug and document Managed FileTransfer applications to satisfy requirements of one or more user areas. You will typically provide 24-hour daily production and technical support to assigned systems. You will also provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level. You will work closely with client management to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes. Additionally, you will research and evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations.
