Managing Director or Executive Director, Corporate Client Banking Financial Institutions Group – Mortgage Finance
The position is a corporate banking Relationship Management role in the Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries Financial Institution’s Mortgage Finance industry group in Houston, with an emphasis on business development, corporate finance and market leadership The primary functions are to 1) generate new business opportunities, 2) manage existing relationships, and 3) represent our Mortgage Finance banking practice nationally.
The Mortgage Finance Group is part of Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries within the Commercial Bank and is responsible for managing relationships with public and private companies with valuations typically greater than $250mm that require investment banking and traditional banking services. The group focuses on U.S. based single family and multi- family originators and mortgage REITs and advises clients and prospects seeking to raise capital across a variety of markets. In addition we advise clients on Risk Management and Global Treasury Solutions.
The bankers work closely with Investment Banking Coverage Partners and Product Specialists (Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, M&A, etc), in addition to Credit Underwriters and Product Specialists from Treasury Services, International Banking, Investment Management & Private Banking.
This position requires an experienced relationship manager capable of generating and driving new business. The ideal candidate must have high quality executive presence, proven client relationship skills and an ability to call at the CEO/CFO/Treasurer level. Strong corporate finance, credit, and transaction execution skills are required.
Specific responsibilities and required skills are listed below.
Initiate and maintain strategic dialogue with real estate clients and prospects to generate corporate finance, treasury services and credit opportunities
Knowledge of commercial real estate
Proactively identify, pursue and close sales opportunities for a broad range of financial products, solutions and services
Manage complex, multi-product client relationships as the primary corporate banking representative
Partner closely with Investment Banking coverage and product partners, and coordinate the sales and service efforts of multiple internal business partners
Collaborate with credit underwriting team on analysis, structuring, negotiation, and documentation of credit requests
Represent Corporate Client Banking & Specialized Industries in the national banking and business communities and develop a network of referral sources
Strictly comply with all regulatory and JMPC rules, policies, and procedures
Minimum of 10 years experience in warehouse lending sales and/or credit position.
In-depth understanding of warehouse credit guidelines, warehouse credit methodologies, and warehouse performance monitoring.
Knowledge of the national and regional mortgage markets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to sell features and benefits of your products versus your competition's products.
Outstanding follow-up and follow-through.
Excellent time management skills, self-sufficient, and ability to work with indirect supervision.
Ability to build and leverage networks and relationships internally and externally.
Ability to confront problems promptly and act decisively.
Sound judgment and integrity.
Proficient PC skills: Must demonstrate ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations and to use Word and Excel.

Ability to provide industry intelligence and customer feedback.
