The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) organization provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. F&BM is comprised of approximately 4,000 employees globally with a wide range of expertise and experience, all of whom are dedicated to partnering with each other and our clients to make our business stronger strategically, financially and operationally.

 

CIB F&BM is seeking an ED/VP-level Business Manager based in New York as part of the Business Management team to support the CIB Controller, Treasurer, Banking CFO and other senior members of the organization. This is a high exposure role with direct interaction with the CIB CFO and the senior management team to help drive cross F&BM initiatives and programs. Management experience is required as the Business Manager will manage a team of 3-5 people.

 

Business Management responsibilities include and are not limited to: 

 
  • Drive Finance Strategy
    • Establish strong relationships across CIB F&BM, Firmwide Finance, Human Resources, Communications, Compliance, Real Estate, and Technology to execute on the Business Management related agenda, action items, and deliverables
    • Support senior management team agendas, priorities and meetings, business reviews, reporting, town halls, team off-sites and follow ups
    • Drive the people and communications agenda across CIB F&BM ensuring linkages across the broader Global Finance & Business Management People Agenda
    • Global Finance & Business Management Analyst Program CIB F&BM Steering Committee member responsible for managing the demand and allocation process for New York
    • Help drive process improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Optimize Business Performance and Planning
    • Budget process/ headcount planning and tracking
    • Monitor expenses with goal of identifying reductions
    • Oversee investment and productivity initiatives
    • Drive location strategy for NY Metro across F&BM
  • Project Management and Execution
    • Provide disciplined project management on ad-hoc projects
    • Execute and manage cross functional projects and deliverables
    • Project management initiatives in support of F&BM priorities including coordination across the broader organization for requests impacting the broader team
  • Controls / Risk
    • Own Consecutive Leave program for CIB F&BM
    • Manage information barrier policy designations (i.e. public vs private designations)
    • Manage operational risks and promote a control environment
    • Suggest and implement controls to improve efficiency and accuracy of existing processes
    • Manage and monitor business resiliency plans in partnership with Business Resiliency Coordinators to ensure information is accurate and plans are reviewed and approved on time

Skills required: 
 

The candidate must be a self starter who is able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment, be confident and have excellent communications skills. These characteristics are critical as the role will have global exposure, accountability and responsibility.

  • 7-10+ years work experience in financial services
  • Business Management or Program/Project Management experience a plus
  • People and organizational management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and drive efforts across various groups and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time while having excellent time management skills
  • Good judgment, maturity and poise to enable interaction/influencing of senior level staff
  • Thoughtful analytical skills; able to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions
  • Inquisitive nature with advanced problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to work independently with the focus on efficiency and quality
  • Energetic, self motivated and effective under pressure - must enjoy the challenge of working within a fast-paced and demanding working environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint/PitchPro, and SharePoint
