Job Description:
The Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) Regulatory Relations team at JPMorgan Chase manages the regulatory supervisory activity and regulatory relationship for the CCB Lines of Business (LOB). Included in these LOBs are Card, Consumer, Business Banking, Merchant Services, Mortgage, Student and Auto Finance, and additional cross-LOB functions. Within this role the candidate will manage up to 6 employees engaged in Regulatory exams and ongoing supervision activities, have exposure to senior executives within the firm, regular interaction with the business and various regulators, and ongoing engagement in various high priority firm deliverables.
Candidates for this role should be highly-motivated, self- starters with exceptional judgment and strong analytical, advisory, verbal and written communication skills, and project management skills. They should be able to quickly adapt to a dynamic work environment while efficiently and effectively completing ongoing projects and ad hoc tasks. Previous experience managing regulatory interactions as well as an understanding of consumer financial products and financial services compliance are preferred, but not required.
  • Overseeing and assisting in executing the end-to-end process for CCB regulatory engagements, including reviewing examination requests, advising internal stakeholders, and reviewing and obtaining approval for regulatory submissions;
  • Managing certain significant CCB regulatory interactions.
  • Preparing CCB LOB senior executives and other personnel for regulatory interactions, including examinations, and leading meetings involving CCB LOB personnel and regulators.
  • Identifying, escalating, and developing solutions for potential regulatory risks.
  • Overseeing and completing periodic and other reporting timely and accurately.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with senior executives and external bank regulatory supervision staff.
  • Managing a team of up to 6 professionals (VPs and Associates)
The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years’ experience at a large financial institution performing legal, regulatory supervision / exam management, or regulatory enforcement functions.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is required.
  • Familiarity with consumer financial products and legal compliance requirements preferred, but not mandatory.
  • J.D preferred, but not required.
  • B.A. or similar degree from a top-tier institution.
  • Client service skills – the candidate must demonstrate the judgment and ability to closely partner with and advise senior and line managers and other stakeholders on regulatory interactions.
  • Analytical skills – the candidate must be highly analytical with experience in analyzing and synthesizing information on various subjects.
  • Problem solving and advisory skills – the candidate must demonstrate the ability to identify key issues, obtain appropriate information for further analysis, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Communications skills – the candidate must possess excellent written and oral executive-level communications skills.
  • Management skills – the candidate must be effectively and efficiently manage several personnel located in potentially various locations involved in executing regulatory interactions.
  • Project management skills – the candidate should be able to manage multiple workstreams involving multiple partners and groups.
