Based either in Singapore or in Hong Kong, the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) will consult with the Banking businesses, specifically Treasury Services, Global Trade & Loan Product, Corporate Banking and the Commercial Banking businesses across Asia to implement strategic HR initiatives and best practices that align with the business strategy. The person will also be the lead for all functions in Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) front office in the SE Asia markets where the firm has a presence. As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will identify and develop solutions based on business priorities and organizational analysis.  Your responsibilities will include partnering with all levels of management on employee relations, staffing, compensation, development, organizational and change management issues.
On the HR front, you will partner with:
  • HRBPs in the Asia Region to ensure alignment in HR delivery to the business in each of the locations
  • Recruitment team to identify, develop and retain top talent and create ownership and accountability for diversity strategy and goals
  • Compensation team to develop and implement specific HR programs directly aligned to business strategy including incentive plans
  • Development team to drive the Employee Opinion Survey, 360 feedback, diversity initiatives, performance management, mobility and career development
  • Employee Relations team to manage and resolve employee matters and promote positive culture and conduct
  • HR colleagues globally and across the region to drive the development of a world-class HR culture by personal example, leadership and actions, incorporating local market conditions in alignment with an international perspective
On the business side, you will:
  • Be a strategic advisor to the business and its management and employees
  • Develop and execute the people agenda, ensuring alignment to the business strategy and priorities
  • Consult and partner with HR stakeholders on a broad range of people-related topics, including employee relations, leadership development, recruitment, compensation, organizational design, diversity and employee advocacy
  • Engage and support the business with succession planning and workforce planning, including the development of leadership talent across the business
  • Provide HR consultation to managers and employees on HR issues regarding employee relations, staffing, compensation, HR policies and performance management
  • Manage complex ongoing business challenges stemming from (“shifting organization structure, linkages and strategy”) existing business and operations as well as new migrations.
  • Assume a leadership role in driving the HR agenda in alignment with the business strategy and leveraging best practices.
  • Drive the development of a world-class HR culture by personal example, leadership and actions, incorporating local market conditions where relevant, but always with a view to Best Practice from an international perspective.
  • Continuously update, expand, and proactively communicate, this knowledge to all relevant internal stakeholders across lines of business and functions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders and HR colleagues to enhance communication flow within the broader regional HR team.
  • Change Management – Facilitate change and seize opportunities to introduce improvements to current practices and procedures taking into account, where appropriate, different LOB operating philosophies.


  • At least 10 years’ HR Generalist or related HR experience, including a demonstrated ability to provide HR advisory support as described above; experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working partnerships with clients and HR colleagues; ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Strong consulting, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Previous experience of managing culturally diverse HR teams and flexibility to work with colleagues in different time zones.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, work and provide practical solutions to the senior leadership team in fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver, able to manage multiple projects, understand business P&L and drive execution.
  • Strong analytical skills required to identify HR-related trends within the business via metrics and other analytical tools, in order to make recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
