Business Description:
As a Market Infrastructure Risk Manager in the CIB Credit Risk Management - Financial Market Infrastructures team, you will be responsible for the review, approval, and monitoring of credit and other risks arising from Firm’s direct memberships of Financial Market Infrastructures (“FMIs”), including central securities depositories (“CSDs”) and payment systems.
Typical Job Duties in Market Infrastructure Risk:
  • Manage a complex and diverse global, cross-regional portfolio of FMIs”): Payment Systems and Central Securities Depositories.
  • Define and develop the risk assessment criteria, templates and risk methodology for conducting FMI membership risk assessments.
  • Define and implement on-going monitoring and governance requirements for FMI memberships.
  • Perform annual membership risk assessments of direct FMI memberships, identifying and reporting key risks and exposures to J.P. Morgan Line of Business (“LOB“) stakeholders, and other key cross-functional partners.
  • Represent Credit Risk in Opportunity Assessments (“OAs’) and new business initiatives (“NBI”), to evaluate and identify risks associated with new / prospective FMI memberships.
  • Participate in and contribute to Risk and LOB governance committees and forums related to FMI’s; Payment System Risk Governance Forum, Depository Risk Governance Forum, Network Steering Committee, etc.
  • Own and maintain FMI Risk policies and Guidelines
  • Provide global, cross-function / LOB risk and governance advisory and consultancy support on Payment, Clearing and Settlement (“PCS”) related activities and initiatives.
  • Present key updates on membership risks and controls to senior management
  • Work with LOBs and other key cross-functional partners to ensure J.P. Morgan's compliance with applicable regulations, such as OCC Banking Circular 235 and OCC IL1140.
  • Prepare and deliver FMI Risk training.
  • Work closely with Global Market Infrastructures, LOB Product Management, and other key functional partners to identify and mitigate risks arising from FMI memberships supporting custody, securities clearance and settlement, and payments services globally.
  • Work on special projects and initiatives as needed (e.g. regulatory requests / examinations, recovery & resolution planning, etc.).
  • Financial services background, with at least 5 years relevant experience in the industry
  • Familiarity with J.P. Morgan LOBs and activities, securities and payments related clearing and settlement practices, , and international banking concepts
  • Experience in interacting with cross-functional / regional partners, and senior management across the organization
  • Analytical skills; ability to understand risks and their drivers, ability to analyze and articulate risk views.
  • Ability to lead and direct the risk agenda
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with multiple tasks in a fast paced and evolving environment
  • Effective project management skills, ability to contribute to enhancements in processes, controls, and systems
  • Time management, problem solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills; strong influencing skills.
  • Ability to develop partnerships and work with different teams interacting across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to make informed, balanced decisions and effectively represent J.P. Morgan
  • Knowledge of J.P. Morgan’s risk management organization, policies, and systems preferred
