Job Description:
Chase Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) serves more than 65 million consumers and 4 million small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice.   The cost, risk, quality, timeliness and overall regulatory demands for data and information continue to increase, elevating the need to architect, drive transparency and govern information and integration into business processes with clear policies, standards and principles (formal & informal). 
An ideal candidate for this role will develop strong partnerships with CCB and Firm Data Management/Chief Development Office (CDO),  Information Architects and Applications Delivery communities to ensure information architecture & data management align and adhere to firm-wide direction, with all platforms and applications designed and executing based on clear and understood policies, standards,  principles, patterns and constraints. 
In this role, the CCB Information Architect will play in integral role in (1) Defining support model for new platforms, technologies (NoSQL, Cloud), and development approaches (Agile) ; (2) Governance to standards; and (3) Driving adoption of Firm Data Management standards and artifacts that can be evidenced for compliance.  Emphasis will be on doing this at scale, leveraging modern techniques, including automation, instead of people. Focus must be on capturing metadata at point of origination and enabling re-use as the data moves.
The CCB Information Architect should be able to work across transactional/operational and analytic/big data environments to ensure the data-centric SDLC artifacts are complete and evidenced. The ideal candidate should have big picture thinking beyond data modeling, including data management capabilities, data governance, data warehousing/BI, operational data management, big data/advanced analytics and infrastructure and patterns.
Key Responsibilities:
Firm and CCB Data Management alignment:
  • Align CCB and Firm data modeling standards and implement in data model templates, governance and metadata publishing processes. Define processes and tools to facilitate migration. Create and conduct training on changes.
  • Evaluate and align CCB and Firm processes and taxonomies for Authoritative Source Inventory, including maintenance process to support new requirements.
  • Determine data registration impact to support CCB requirements aligned to FDM requirements. Determine how to support both through automation, including alternate methods for capturing registration metadata.
  • Evaluate Firm Data Management tools against CCB requirements and recommend how to use from a target state perspective.
  • Update MDR metamodel and load processes to support Firm requirements from data models, data registration, Authoritative source inventory, and other metadata capture mechanisms.
  • Establish process for future implementation of Strategic Reference Data to insure compliant design/sourcing.
Agile / New Technology Support/Transformation:
  • Governance streamlining, prioritization and automation – evaluate scenarios requiring different levels of data standards governance and implement. Test, implement, and refine automated tools.
  • Ensure each database change has approved logical / physical metadata, including sourcing, protection, and retention metadata. Incorporate into Agile methodology.
  • Determine appropriate standards and governance and implement for New Banking Architecture, NoSQL and Cloud database technologies.
  • Logical Data Modeling – ensure compliance to Firm standards while modernizing ‘contextual’ modeling based on platforms, technologies and consumption requirements.
  • Standards – Ensure CCB data polices, standards, principles and accountabilities are understood, aligned to Firmwide Data Management, and can be unambiguously understood and governed against – formally and through self-certification.
Critical Business Initiatives:
  • Identify and implement changes to metadata capture and database design standards/guidelines to support International data inventory, segregation, and regulatory requirements.
Data Management Transformation:
  • Define and implement scorecards (control reports) to assess metadata quality and completeness for data models, data registration, and other capture mechanism.
  • Metadata capture automation – identify and implement ways to automatically leverage existing metadata for sourced data. Ensure consistency between different metadata sources – data models, registration, authoritative source inventory, boundary services, application registry, reference data hub, critical data registries, etc.
  • Create and deliver training and education programs for developing data management expertise within the organization.
Architecture Governance:
  • Ensure data models / metadata adhere to Firmwide & CCB Data Management  standards and principles through CCB Information Architecture oversight, including automated processes, self-certification, and control reports – including waterfall and agile projects
  • Participate in CCB data projects/governance (ARB) to ensure proper placement, provisioning and flow (sourcing) – focus on major investment programs/most critical data
  • A minimum of 10 years of IT experience, with 8+ years in Information Architecture / Data Modeling in Transactional, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence or Master & Reference Data Management
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Business or Arts is required; Master’s degree is Computer Science is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, partnership and communication skills, tailored to the audience’s level of knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry vertical, focused on Retail Banking
  • Expert in conceptual, logical and physical data modeling using tools such as Erwin
  • Experience with Data Management and Data Governance
  • Experience with enterprise metadata, reference data and data quality, including analysis and faming facts
  • Excellent influencing and consultative skills, including business and technology interactions
Additional Desired Qualifications (candidates not expected to have all of these)
  • Experience in performing ‘data forensics’ to discover and infer data managed and to strategize on data rationalization opportunities, given the facts,  across the business data and storage infrastructure
  • Experience in industry research and leveraging industry data models, standards, patterns and open source products, as appropriate
  • Logical and Physical database modeling skills (i.e., Oracle, Teradata, and DB2) and understanding of dimensional modeling
  • Experience in data profiling and interpreting results  to support data modeling tuning and data quality
  • Experience with metadata repository product(s), including future looking and future positioning
  • Understanding or experience with data mining and/or statistical modeling
  • Exposure to Agile and data management practices
  • Understanding of emerging data persistence and processing paradigms, including Hadoop and other NoSQL databases
  • Exposure and/or development experience with ETL & BI tools
