Job Description:
As a Vice President within the new firm-wide Tax Operations Utility you will have regular interactions with senior management to help shape and lead Tax operational support across the Latin American region. Your role will be to regionally coordinate the organization through the delivery of all tax operations functions and regulatory projects and drive changes to the operational landscape. You will use your experience, confidence and initiative to ensure all business lines are working cohesively to achieve Tax utility success. You will also be responsible for:
  • Coordinating, planning and overseeing the execution of Tax Ops BAU reviews across the region for the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), Commercial Bank (CB) and possibly the Private Bank (PB) providing support to each project coordinator to ensure successful delivery, appropriate risk management and transparent communication.
  • Ensuring effective, efficient and integrated operational platforms and processes are in place (and periodically reviewed) to support firm wide business areas
  • The planning, developing and implementing the operational strategy to meet organisational requirements and expectations within agreed budgets and timescales, producing an efficient, effective and scalable operating platform to meet the Latin American growth aspirations of the firm.
  • Initiating, developing and coordinating key tax regulatory requirements and their impact on the LATAM region.
  • Providing input into the annual planning process ensuring relevant placeholders are accounted for Technology and Operational budgets.
  • Planning and executing various Tax Ops forums, checkpoints with Firm-wide Tax Control and the Senior Steering Committee.
  • Work with Control Officers to develop and execute a comprehensive quality assurance program across the Latin American Region for Tax Operations.
  • Managing communication of status updates and regulatory changes to stakeholders and senior managers through presentations and reports used in different forums.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the bank and all lines of businesses providing operational excellence, leadership and program support helping to identify, escalate and resolve issues/risks/dependencies.
  • Supporting definition and development of project progress metrics and on-going tracking; Includes data analysis and drawing any initial summary conclusions on progress/risk/issues, also includes maintenance of actions logs
  • Operations management experience
  • Proven project management and project management methodology experience with 4 + years in a large multi-national organisation working with cross functional projects on a truly global scale.
  • Familiarisation with QA methodology and the execution of a QA framework.
  • Strong interpersonal, technical and problem solving skills with the ability to influence and persuade senior stakeholders in the pursuit of business results.
  • First class communication skills both written and verbally with confidence and the ability to challenge effectively at all levels of the firm
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities and work independently while keeping multiple stakeholders appropriately updated.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Project, Visio, and MS Access.
  • Detailed oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maximizing quality of service.
Role Requirement Skills (Preferred)
  • Law, Accounting, Business degree (Preferred)
  • Regulatory Tax experience within FATCA/CRS/CDOT and tax operational knowledge (preferred)
  • Tax Operations experience in region (Preferred)
  • Language skills: Spanish/Portuguese (Preferred)
