Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business (LOB) to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution, and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm.
GTI Service Operations (SO) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's (JPMC) Global Technology Infrastructure. Through its Global Service Desk and Infrastructure Operations Centers, Global Service Operations (GSO) provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while Production Assurance and Support functions leverage and execute industry leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.
As a GSO database administrator, you will work in a global team with follow-the-sun support model which provides 24*7 operational database support functions to all lines of business. You will follow the standard operating model to ensure the database estates are resilient and robust. As a Senior Sybase Database Administrator, you will administer, maintain and utilize policies and procedures for ensuring security and integrity of the databases. Implement data models, database designs, database security and maintenance. Lead the efforts of installing and maintaining database management software. You will work with the Information Architect and Database Designer to help implement the physical data model. Create/Implement database maintenance plan to ensure data integrity.
The Sybase DBA will be part of the database production support team in providing guidance and troubleshooting complex technical issues. The DBA is expected to provide innovative IT solutions and be a trusted technical services advisor to provide operation and maintenance of systems across multiple platforms, sustained resiliency and high availability solutions.
•Minimum 5+ years of work experience as a Sybase Database Administrator
•Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE, Sybase Replication Server and Sybase IQ administration
•Detail knowledge of Sybase ASE v15.X, 12.x
•Detailed knowledge of Sybase Replication Server
•Working knowledge of Sybase IQ 15.x
•Day-to-day production operations (incident break/fix, change, service requests, vulnerability management).
•Provide Sybase replication support for building warm standby and MSA types of replication
•Be able to independently plan and execute large database migration projects
•Sybase installation and version upgrade from 12.x to 15.x
•Handling databases backup , DBCC ,restoration, update statistic, rebuild and reorg
•Analyzing and monitor system performance using DBCC , traceon commands, query plan output, system procedures like sp_sysmon and other performance monitoring tools
•Strong Performance and Tuning capabilities and root cause analysis reporting
•Troubleshooting problems real-time issues
•Knowledge and experience with enterprise wide disaster recovery activities
•Weekend work will need to be undertaken.
•Good understanding of Unix platform with ability to develop & maintain Unix shell scripts
•Perl, Python or other Unix/Linux coding language
•Financial industry experience is a plus
•Ability to interface with users at all levels of the organization and good end-user support skills
•Must be well-organized, responsible, work effectively, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and able to multitask in a fast paced environment
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
