Job Description:
The Sales Engineer will offer Product and Platform consulting services to Prospects to assist in providing solutions that address their goals and requirements. The Sales Engineer will provide detailed Product expertise along with Technical Infrastructure options based on the analysis of the client's business goals, infrastructure and existing systems. This will require the Sales Engineer to consider: key tactical needs and overall merchant/prospect goals; external market factors; and current and future positioning of Merchant Services.
  • Possesses a high level of familiarity with Merchant Services Retail and Card not Present product lines as well as a general familiarity with those provided by others in the market
  • Provides technical and product related assistance to Business Development Executives and Relationship Managers in pursuit of new clients and/or in support of expansion opportunities with existing clients.
  • Participates in sales presentations and provides demos focused on presenting the Merchant Services Products and Technical Infrastructure as well as the specific product solutions proposed to the client.
  • Knowledge of key industry trends including EMV, Security, Mobile and Compliance and Mobile is desired
  • Drafts RFP responses as pertains to Merchant Services Retail and Card-not-Present product lines and technical capabilities with the assistance of a subject matter expert when necessary.
  • Provides mentoring to Business Development on all aspects of the payments industry and Merchant Services solutions.
  • Works closely with the Integrated Solutions Group to best understand the partnership programs (ISV’s, VARS, Gateways and other Partners) that we offer while recognizing the specific strengths which allows for intelligent consulting when working with prospective and base merchants.
  • Works closely with internal groups (Product, Payment Relations, Marketing, and Compliance) on initiatives by providing input to the groups and provide updates to the Business Development and Account Executive organizations.


  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field with 8+ year's experience is preferred.
  • 5+ years in a systems consulting/integration or business analyst position, emphasis on electronic payment industry preferred.
  • Experience with technical, product, and financial concepts is required. Incumbent must possess the ability to perform in depth analysis, explain complex system configurations, recommend viable solutions, and discuss integration to audiences with varying degrees of knowledge.
  • Strong solution selling ability with preference on merchant acquiring and/or payments more generally
  • Familiarity with is a plus
  • Ability to travel to client engagements on a regular basis.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management including Executive Management.
  • Ability to work well in a team oriented environment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on systems and processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key-decision makers to ensure proposed resolutions adhere to standards of the company and take the best interest of the customer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint.
