The Australia Credit Risk team focuses on execution of corporate finance transactions, including acquisition and leveraged finance for Australia/NZ CIB clients. The team works closely with business partners from the Global Corporate Bank, Equity and Debt Capital Markets and Corporate and Investment Bank and is the primary contributor and driver of credit analytics including risk rating determination, industry assessment (working with internal industry specialists) with a key focus on due diligence, structuring, negotiation and documentation of such transactions. They are also responsible for ongoing credit monitoring and review work for client facilities.


An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate to join this team and support transaction structuring, due diligence and ongoing monitoring and management of the bank's credit exposure portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.



  • Prepare forward looking credit analysis, along with necessary financial modelling, for both new transactions and existing clients to provide insight into clients’ industries and the key business and financial risks they face;
  • Support senior team members in taking a key role in the due diligence, structuring and documentation for transactions;
  • Ongoing supervision and management of an assigned portfolio of credit clients across a range of industries including monitoring and recommending internal credit ratings;
  • Interact closely with transaction stakeholders including client coverage and product bankers, credit executives and legal counsel;
  • Prepare and monitor various credit and regulatory reporting requirements; and
  • Keep track of market developments and the impact on clients.

Experience/ Qualifications/ Knowledge:

  • Undergraduate degree or post graduate qualifications in accounting, business or a quantitative related discipline.
  • At least four years of experience gained in a corporate credit role within institutional banking or investment banking;
  • Experience analysing leading Australian or international corporate clients with knowledge of Australian debt markets, financing structures and related documentation;
  • Ability to take an active role in identifying key issues / concerns around structure and credit;
  • Ability to foster relationships and interact across business lines and clients;
  • Able to demonstrate good time management and clarity in thinking in dealing with multiple work streams.
