The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.


Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, Specifically, the overall aim of a Business Manager is to:

  • Act as trusted advisor and counterweight to CTO(s)
  • Identify, escalate and mitigate business risks that could impair our ability to do business: e.g. legal, tax, regulatory, capacity issues, extraordinary transaction costs)
  • Optimize 'bottom line' business performance by driving key initiatives
Position Summary

Reporting to the Global Business Management lead for Equities Technology, the primary function of the role is to provide comprehensive strategic support to the Markets Risk and PnL Reporting Technology lead. The role includes regular interaction with senior management across Technology, Operations, F&BM, as well as the front office stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Alignment of the business strategy into a coherent front to back technology 3 year plan
  • Drive accountability across the organization for execution against the 3 year plan
  • Create common set of goals, metrics and key success measures for the group
  • Deliver executive-level monthly business reviews to all stakeholders
  • Drive the annual planning process through engagement with stakeholders
  • Optimize Run The Bank spend through management of productivity workstreams
  • Ensure Change the Bank spend is appropriately prioritized with supporting business case
  • Reviewing expenses and identifying potential reductions in the cost base to streamline business processes and improve profitability
  • Drive a workforce strategy (skills and location) that is consistent with the macro CIB Technology workforce strategy

  • Relevant industry experience, ideally coupled with strategic, business management and financial experience
  • Ideal experience/background in finance, technology, and operations
  • A confident leader -- possessing a strength of personality and intellect to gain the respect of demanding business heads and senior finance management team
  • A collaborative and participative style. Professionalism, sensitivity, discretion and sound decision-making skills allied with the ability to interact at senior executive level are essential.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi task and drive the agenda under pressure
