About Specialty Assets:
A part of the Wealth Management Global Trusts and Estates practice, the Specialty Asset Business Unit contains the Closely Held Asset Management Group, the Real Property Asset Management Group, and the Mineral Asset Management Group. All three teams provide services for trusts and/or estates that own these particular types of assets.
J.P. Morgan’s Closely Held Asset Management Group provides asset management services for privately owned businesses.  The Closely Held Asset Management Group consists of 12 asset managers in Columbus, Ohio and an eight-person support staff in Mumbai, India.
J.P. Morgan’s Mineral Asset Management Group is a specialized group of experienced professionals who actively manage oil, gas and other mineral assets. The Mineral Asset Management Group consists of 14 property managers in Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas and are supported by an external vendor for administrative services.
J.P. Morgan’s Real Property Asset Management is a specialized team that manages clients’ residential, commercial and agricultural real estate assets. The Real Property Asset Management Group consists of 5 property managers, spread across the country, supported by an external vendor for day-to-day property management services.

Based in Columbus, the Specialty Assets Business Manager Associate role will primarily focus on supporting the Closely Held Asset Management Group and the Real Property Asset Management Group. Partnering with business units, other business managers, risk, and compliance, this role will provide reporting (ad-hoc and monthly) to practice leadership, provide strategic initiative support, and allow for critical thinking and problem solving opportunities.  Additional day-to-day business management activities may also include business reporting and presentation, helping the individuals and business units to be successful by assisting with day-to-day issue resolution, acting as a point of escalation, and improving processes. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Trusts & Estates U.S. Business Management team to support day to day activities of the Specialty Asset Business unit, including reporting, analysis, presentations and strategic initiatives
  • Understand business unit processes and procedures and work on operating model changes as necessary 
  • Represent business in projects, where appropriate
  • Participate in Practice-wide support coordinating with the specific business managers
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, management and practitioners within the business
  • Ability to work on strategic plans as well as tactical priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop presentations on  complex and sensitive issues
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, organization and project management skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and comfort multi-tasking many initiatives and requests
  • Ability to effectively transform both quantitative and qualitative information into a compelling argument
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take personal accountability
  • Commercial mindset to develop effective business strategy and influence daily decision making
  • Good judgment and discretion working with highly confidential information
  • At least 3 years financial services experience, preferably in trusts or estates or wealth management
  • Experience analyzing information and data and synthesizing into conclusions and recommendations and clear and concise presentations  
  • Proven record of delivery of initiatives
  • Experience in effectively messaging priorities, initiatives and updates to senior management
  • Proficient to advanced experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
