Department Summary
Due Diligence Operations (‘DDO’) is responsible for supporting and leading aspects of the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (‘AML’) and Know Your Customer (‘KYC’) Programs. The team works closely with the AML Program Management Office, Global Financial Crimes Compliance (‘GFCC’), Line of Business (LOB) KYC Teams and the enterprise-wide Control Program Teams to identify, remediate and track issues, and develop controls to sustain improvements as they are made. The company's responsibilities related to Anti-Money Laundering span every business, function and region - and apply to every customer and client of the firm. The AML/Sanctions Consent Order requires that JPMorgan Chase make specific process and system improvements - on top of more immediate procedural changes - and drive greater consistency in its approach to AML across the company. 
Due Diligence Operations (‘DDO’) team provides a service to local business-aligned functions by providing enhanced background research on prospective, new and existing clients in order to identify derogatory information and supplement KYC requirements. 
The Due Diligence Research Analyst conducts research of potential or existing clients of the bank to assist requestors with their Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Properly identify and perform research on appropriate parties for each case
  • Conduct research into new and existing clients, searching online databases for negative media, PEP, OFAC sanctions and court record information
  • Analyze and summarize large amounts of data
  • Identify & deem relevancy of public records, as it relates to customer information
  • Compile research data into a standardized report and forward to supervisory review to ensure accuracy of findings
  • Summarize and communicate derogatory information in written English
  • Work to the highest level of standards ensuring reports meet the quality targets
  • Exercise sound judgment whilst observing strict confidentiality and data privacy guidelines
  • Knowledge of Compliance, KYC/AML and/or investigations preferred.
  • Fluency in English and a second language essential (either Arabic, Spanish, German or Portuguese)
  • Research, analytical and comprehension skills, with ability to analyze and summarize large amounts of data
  • Knowledge of “Boolean Search” logic techniques advantageous
  • Familiarity with public records advantageous
  • Detailed, well organized, self-starter, capable of working under minimum supervision
  • Able to multi-task and meet deadlines in high -pressure environment working in partnership with supervisory reviewer
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for report summarizations and escalations
  • Strong interpersonal skills; results-oriented team player
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work processes
  • Proficient in MS Office. Strong typing skills and Excel knowledge preferred
