Legal Department Description
The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
Office of the General Counsel Description:
The Office of the General Counsel helps attorneys make the best use of their time by providing centralized services and tools to i) develop professional skills, ii) manage projects and achieve business objectives, iii) optimize processes and technology, and iv) engage and connect employees.  The OGC helps the Legal Management Team establish and execute the department’s objectives by driving and supporting initiatives to i) implement firm-wide standards and governance, ii) provide financial discipline and risk controls, iii) guide the people agenda and iv) drive best practices.
Legal Data Practice Group Description:
The OGC is creating an industry-leading data management team that will enable better business intelligence and decisions through data that is accessible, trusted and understood.  This new team will create the data governance program for Legal and partner with Technology and other OGC groups to deliver business-friendly solutions to make data-driven decisions.   
Position Description:
The LDP is seeking a Vice President who will be responsible for creating the foundational programs (data governance, reference data, and data quality) that will provide the Legal department with trusted, consistent, accurate data.  This will involve partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, and the Firmwide Chief Data Office to envision and build industry-leading data management solutions for critical data sets, as well as defining and implementing data governance and quality processes.  
  • Create roadmaps for implementation of programs across reference data, governance, and data quality
  • Manage a portfolio of projects across these three focus areas
  • Manage data governance activities and ensure collaboration from a group of data stewards, data domain managers, business SMEs and IT stakeholders
  • Partner with the Firmwide Chief Data Office to understand and implement Firmwide mandates, standards, and recommendations across Legal data management
  • Prepare presentations and materials for stakeholder reviews, project team meetings, and leadership reviews
  • Analyze, evaluate, define, document, maintain and track business requirements
  • Analyze, evaluate, define and document business and system processes and identify and document underlying business requirements and rules
  • Perform data discovery, analysis and modeling - analyze, evaluate and define data requirements, usage and structure
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or related graduate level degree preferred
  • Financial services background ideal
  • Academic or work experience in Legal a plus
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in enterprise data management at a major financial institution
  • Proven ability to coordinate across functional teams of business executives, IT professionals, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives
  • Strong relationship-building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and proven skill in influencing others/corporate diplomacy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying issues and recommending solutions
  • Process documentation experience a plus
  • Familiar with different software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)
  • Competency in in MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, MS Project and Jira.
  • Ability to understand conceptual, logical and physical data models a plus
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
