Job Description:
This position will require a close working relationship with the Estate, Gift & GST Tax team leader within JPMorgan’s Trusts & Estates tax group, including contact with internal and external stakeholders. The tax officer’s primary responsibility will be to provide a working knowledge of estate, gift and generation-skipping (GST) tax matters for our client base and to ensure compliance with Federal and State filing requirements.   This will include process and procedure, analysis of risk, review of data and helping to focus on priority items. Also, this role will involve frequent interaction with JPMorgan’s tax accounting firm vendor(s) and front office advisors (e.g., Trust Officers, Bankers, Investors, etc.) in a fast-paced team environment, as well as accountability for broader projects. 
  • Review trust documents and analyze the generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax implications of trust accounts
  • Review  and oversight of terminating trusts  to ensure compliance with JPMorgan’s regulatory tax reporting responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Estate, Gift & GST team leader to respond to tax-related inquiries from estate and trust officers and administrators and JPMorgan’s tax vendor(s)
  • Assist with overall team objectives, including responsibility for metrics reporting
  • Firm foundation in estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax matters
  • Ability to research tax issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Client focused with a tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts
  • Team player with excellent organizational, multitasking and prioritizing skills
  • JD or CPA;  LL.M in Taxation or Master’s in Taxation a plus
  • 7+ years of estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax experience
  • Specific industry-related experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word as well as strong knowledge of online research tools (e.g. RIA Checkpoint and CCH)
  • Familiarity with OneSource Tax Software and Omni Platform a plus
