Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organization for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. The objective of GTI is to balance both business alignment and the centralized delivery of core products and services. GTI is designed to address the unique infrastructure needs of specific lines of business and the demand to leverage economies of scale across the firm.


GTI Service Operations (SO) is responsible for service support and delivery for JPMorgan Chase's (JPMC) Global Technology Infrastructure. Through its Global Service Desk and Infrastructure Operations Centers, SO provides global, coordinated diagnostic and support services, while its Production Assurance and Support functions leverage and execute industry leading infrastructure management and support processes that are designed to minimize customer outages and impacts.

As part of the GSO Merchant Services Wintel team, the Active Directory Engineer is responsible for support, configuration, design, operation, monitoring, management, and upgrading of all Domain Controllers and running instances of Microsoft Active Directory services deployed within the Line of Business (LoB). The Active Directory Engineer ensures LoB technology designs, practices, and procedures are consistent with JPMC global technology standards, provides instruction and guidance to internal customers on interoperability and usage of services and acts as the Subject Matter Expert for IT-to-IT customers.


This is a Level 3 support position with Level 1 and Level 2 support responsibilities as assigned.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding industry best practices, JPMC policies and standards, and the Merchant Services operating environment.
  • Designing solutions that implement or enhance  the technologies necessary to manage, monitor, and safeguard Merchant Services technology assets and operating environment.
  • Ensuring existing and new solutions are designed to be continuously availability and scalable.
  • Maintaining, monitoring, supporting, and upgrading all components used in the delivery of related services.
  • Managing engagements with new and existing internal IT-to-IT service customers.
  • Identifying risks as it pertains to stability and resiliency and developing plans to reduce or resolve those risks.
  • Monitoring the teams trouble ticket queue for new incidents and working to resolve to those incidents.



  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in a production support, systems management, or engineering type role.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with supporting, configuring, or deploying all of the following technologies and services: Directory Services, Certificate Services, IIS, DNS, DHCP, Distributed File System, Group Policy, LDAP/LDAPS, PowerShell
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience deploying, maintaining, or supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2 (or later).
  • Able to review, understand, and rely on technical and software documentation and apply that knowledge into practice.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or deploying mission critical or continuously availability Windows Server based solutions.
  • Experience operating in environments that are heavily governed under compliance , regulatory, or risk reduction controls.
  • Experience supporting application services distributed across secure network environments,  over a Wide Area Network, behind or between firewall controlled network zones, and across multiple Active Directory security domains.
  • Experience with maintaining multiple Microsoft Active Directory Domain instances, supporting Domain Trusts, and performing domain migrations.
  • Advanced understanding of performance, monitoring, capacity, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Advanced understanding of best practices and company policies.
  • Experience with writing technical schematics for publication internally and maintaining a knowledge base.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of process-focused methodologies for IT related activities (Change Management, Incident Management, SDLC ).
  • Detail-oriented self starter with strong conceptual, analytical, decision making and planning skills.
  • Effective problem solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates an ability to interact with technical, non-technical, and business members of the organization.
  • Proficient in multiple business disciplines/functions.
