Job Description:
Global Security and Investigations (GS&I) protects the firm's employees and assets throughout the world. This responsibility includes the development of security and safety policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative compliance, investigations, security guard management and alarm response, incident management, corporate building security and customer/visitor/client safety, workplace violence, occupational health and safety, fire and life safety, executive protection, pre-employment screening and security operations on a global basis.
This position is the head of department role for China and is responsible for all managing physical security requirements of JPM offices in the country. The GS&I Country Manager is a vital figure within the operational delivery framework of the GS&I organization, charged with providing day-to-day leadership and management of GS&I responsibilities across the JPM portfolio in China. Fairly regular travel within China and APAC will be required. Due to the demanding nature of the role, this position requires the incumbent to be on call around the clock, seven days a week.
The incumbent is responsible for the following key functions:
Physical & Technical Security:
  • Be an effectively leader to the China GS&I team, setting measurable objectives for the team to follow.
  • Constantly review GS&I policies and procedures with a view to streamlining and improving upon same.
  • Manage the access control system in compliance with the regulations;
  • Supervise the daily operations of security guarding and access control across all locations in China;
  • Closely monitor guard performance and report monthly with appropriate KPI’s
  • Supervise the internal CCTV monitoring system and maintain image retention records as evidence for police in any subsequent court proceeding and/or for internal investigations;
  • Provide executive protection for all Operating Committee members visiting China
  • Plan, manage and oversee all security arrangements for JPMC sponsored or led events in China.
    Crisis Management:
  • Manage all crisis incidents occurring within China along with the regional crisis management lead, Command Centre and local management.
  • Assist in drafting appropriate messaging to China employees to all staff of disaster warnings and impactful incident alerts.
  • Manage the inter-departmental Floor Response Officers (for fire and natural disasters);
  • Coordinate and conduct country wide emergency evacuation and fire drills;
  • Assist to implement disaster training, prevention guidelines and oversee emergency provisions;  
    Risk Assessment:
  • Assist regional leads with technical security updates and new build installation
  • Head local health and life safety requirements for all projects;
  • Conduct site surveys and security audits across China as required;
  • Protect the firm’s reputation, personnel, products, assets, proprietary information and other interests by the continuous review of security risks faced by the firm and recommend mitigation of such risks;
  • Liaise with other concerned departments on cases of fraudulent
    Management of Projects:
  • Lead or assist on ad hoc GS&I-led projects regionally or in China;
  • Lead and support the efficient implementation of all regional and global security projects in China;
  • Assist on all in country audits if JPMC locations
  • Act as one of the main points of contact with both local law enforcement agencies and CBRC in China.
  • Head up all ad hoc local law enforcement audits of JPMC facilities in China.
Report directly into and comply with all other instructions of the North Asia GS&I head not listed above.
  • Post-Secondary education plus a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the physical security field and / or other related fields, preferably in the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of the financial and banking industry and topical threats which provide challenges to fraud prevention and data security within the financial sector.
  • Some investigation and interview skills.
  • Knowledge of physical security operations and workplace safety practices in a business environment.
  • Demonstrable management experience at a senior level.
  • Previous military/law enforcement experience an advantage, but not essential.
  • Demonstrable contacts in the local security and law enforcement fields
  • Effective computer skills (including a sound understanding of data analysis tools and all Microsoft office applications).
    Management and Communication Skills
  • Must enjoy excellent English reading and writing skills. Need to be able to regularly brief US headquarters on serious matters impacting upon security/safety in China.
  • Must be able to speak fluent Mandarin and write Chinese.
  • Must be a team player – An ability to interface appropriately with internal and external customers to resolve issues or to escalate appropriately to local and GS&I management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to operate smoothly in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • The ability to interface effectively with specialized teams and engage with them to assist in complex projects/enquiries
  • Strong multi-tasking capability
  • Willing to work long hours when required
