  • Responsible for sourcing, structuring, and underwriting new loans with the appropriate risk profile for various fund and separate accounts mandates managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. 
  • Develop and manage sourcing relationships.
  • Size and make recommendations on new prospective origination opportunities. 
  • Prepare and negotiate term sheets and loan applications.    
  • Manage the due diligence process, including the final underwritings and preparation of the loan approval memos.
  • Assist with the closing process which includes the coordination of loan funding with internal operations. 
  • From time to time assist with various asset management duties for existing positions within the portfolio.   
  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience with an institutional real estate investor or lender:
  • Extensive knowledge of fundamental real estate cash flow and valuation analysis for office, industrial, retail and multifamily sectors.
  • Ability to analyze real estate markets and the positioning of the subject property within them.
  • Strong analytical skills.  Proficiency in Argus property/portfolio modeling software as well as excel.
  • Seasoned credit skills with ability to prepare and present new loans to credit committee.
  • Ideal candidate will also have significant experience with deal management of complex loans and/or subordinate financing including:
  • Proven risk identification and structuring skills to mitigate risks.
  • Working knowledge of loan documentation and experience managing legal aspects of transactions including negotiating loan documents.
  • Ability to review and analyze third party reports including engineering, environmental and appraisal analyses.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the closing and funding process.
  • Superb interpersonal skills to establish and manage relationships with borrowers, mortgage bankers, participating lenders, lawyers and team members.
  • Experience should include exposure to the public markets, rating agencies and CMBS and REIT markets but does not require extensive investment experience.
  • Highly diligent and detail oriented.
  • Strong project management skills to prioritize and manage a large volume of workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Formal credit training is desired, but not requisite.
  • Significant initiative and team orientation required.
  • Experience must demonstrate that the candidate has all of the skills listed above.
