EMEA RESEARCH AND FIXED INCOME SECONDARY MARKET LAWYER
We are seeking a Research and Fixed Income Secondary Market lawyer to provide legal advisory support to the respective businesses. The successful candidate will be EMEA legal counsel for the Research business and work closely with US and APAC Research counsel, line of business legal teams and support the Fixed Income Secondary Market business. The ideal candidate will need to be a team player and be flexible and willing to take on new challenges as they arise.
Specific responsibilities include:
advising senior business heads on strategic/macro issues that have legal implications for the business;
partnering with compliance and other control functions, to provide legal input/assistance on new business initiatives, regulatory inquiries, regulation implementation exercises and other internal projects;
advising on Research Unbundling and related documentation negotiation;
advising on distribution model and cross border issues;
advising on issues in relation to the Global Index Research business and working with regulatory colleagues on Benchmark Regulation;
advising on conflict of interest issues including research business segregation and independence;
developing/updating templates and reviewing internal policies and procedures pertaining to these lines of business; and
instructing and liaising with external counsel, as required (including managing legal spend).
Experience of the above responsibilities is advantageous but we will also consider candidates with transactional experience and/or with knowledge of FCA Rules/MiFID.
The candidate will ideally be a UK qualified solicitor with experience gained either within the legal department of an investment bank or in private practice (preferably with in-house experience). The role is Assistance Vice President or Vice President level.
