Integrated Compute Services organization, within Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI), manages compute and storage services, core web products and services as well as evaluates and develops new technologies, and applies them to the needs of business services. The solutions developed within Emerging Services are aimed at keeping JP Morgan Chase on the leading edge of technological development to give the company a competitive advantage by supplying high quality firm wide solutions to complex problems.

GTI Emerging Services and Web Engineering is the core technology organization that designs, builds and provides support for the firm wide web/middleware products and services. 

Position Summary:

As an Infrastructure Developer / Application Developer working in Web Engineering, you will be helping deliver major deliverables and being involved in aspects of the software development lifecycle including: design, testing and implementation. You will also be responsible for working with application teams and other firm wide technology teams to understand functional and technical requirements and partnering to develop successful solutions leveraging the team’s portfolio of services.  Specifically you will be a development resource and will partner with other key technical leaders to build key applications that support the automation of web and infrastructure that are manually accomplished today.   Additionally, the qualified candidate would be expected to contribute to the offering directly by working with other developers on the team and working to improve the services and applications that already exist and participating in testing/QA and code reviews.


·      Design and build systems that are scalable, robust, automatic, with least human touch to support and operate

·      Supports technical solutions with detailed business cases based on thorough the gathering and interpretation of business, technical and functional requirements

·      Participates on efforts around application and platform stability, resiliency, performance and enhancements to provide world class service to internal clients

·      Identify and implement areas for improvement within operational and technical processes/ implementations and maintain related documentation on a continuous basis

·       Provides technical assistance with the most challenging issues that span multiple systems, or show recurring trends that have not been successfully resolved

·       Create, implement, and adhere to operational and technical standards, best practices, processes and procedures (problem/change/release/request/procurement management; incident/service/time reporting)

·       Consult with internal clients on their technology risk and control environments to adhere to industry IT Risk and Cyber Security best practices

·        Ensure that solutions and services adhere to compliance standards (SOX, PCI DSS, OWASP, RBAC, Third Party Oversight, Control Assessments, Vulnerability Management, Access Administration).

·       Lead medium scale projects and deliver presentations to senior management with  minimal supervision


·      Experience doing senior level programming with Java and/or Python, or .NET with a strong base in object-oriented and/or functional design and development.

·       Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

·       Knowledge of management and development of platform services (PaaS) preferably large scale distributed production environments.

·       Understanding of data structures, algorithms and their performance

·       Knowledge of basic relational and/or non-relational database concepts

·       Experience with distributed systems and databases

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills

·       Understanding of Agile and Scrum development concepts.

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Strong Linux skills – Administrator Level understanding including OS configuration, shell scripting, PXE and DHCP

·       Experience operating and developing in JVM-based environments

·       Experience working with Q/A automation tools like FitNesse and Selenium.

·       Familiar working with Jenkins and other CI/CD tools including the Atlassian suite including JIRA, Confluence or  HipChat.

·       Experience working with or delivering cloud or other platform level technology or service (Cloud Foundry, Mesos, etc.) preferably in large and/or complex environments. 

·       Configuration Management tool experience (Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet or CFEngine)

·       Knowledge of both commercial (Splunk, Elk, ElasticSearch, etc.) and open source log analytics tools and stacks would be a distinct advantage

·       Familiarity with the Python / Django framework.

·       Knowledge of management and development of PaaS environments

·       Experience working in a regulated Industry (Financial Services, Healthcare, etc.)

·       Someone who reads a lot of tech blogs and have formulated opinions on the use of technology
