The JPMorgan Chase Legal Department is responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to the Firm and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Firm’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
Legal is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm's lines of business (LOBs) and corporate staff areas, allowing the legal and compliance staff to work closely with specific groups on a daily basis. Each line of business has an LOB General Counsel, who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm's General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the legal and compliance teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the businesses and staff areas, and for the LOBs and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the legal and compliance teams in a timely manner.
The Home Lending Litigation Attorney will be responsible for supervising and directing outside counsel related to actual and potential litigation brought against Chase throughout the United States.  Advise management on risks within the organization.  Draft, review and revise pleadings, discovery responses and briefs. Communicate with outside counsel and internal clients regarding case status and negotiations.  May supervise or provide advice to less senior members of the legal department. 
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Litigation Attorney
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience practicing law post-JD
  • JD or educational equivalent required. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment.
  • All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment. 
  • Experience within the Mortgage or Home Lending business
  • Ability to prioritize work and effectively manage a large case load
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management, customers, attorneys and outside vendors 
  • Ability to identify key risk issues and exercise good business judgment
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box
  • Ability to complete large administrative component to position
