"This position will be a member of Enterprise Computing Service’s Technical Support team. This individual will have responsibility for day-to-day support of Mainframe Storage and Hardware environment.
The position will work closely with multiple GTI teams and LOB’s to ensure high mainframe systems availability. This position requires ability to support day to day and participate in major project initiatives in a large scale environment, demanding high degree of technical skill and ability to quickly adapt to an ever changing business environment. Ability to work in a fast changing/mixed culture environment is important.
Customer Satisfaction and providing high systems availability are the priorities of this position.
Key Functional Responsibilities
Provide stable Mainframe Storage and Hardware support for ECS Infrastructure
Product installations, customization and evaluation.
Definition, maintenance and modification of existing z/Series Storage and Hardware products
Perform problem analysis and recovery in the storage, hardware and software environment.
Perform reporting on storage and hardware environment as required.
Ensure the Storage and Hardware environments meet all audit and security requirements.
Should be willing to provide off hours oncall support.
Should be willing to provide support on any weekend activities
Performance tuning & development of operational procedures
Awareness of Change Control procedures and adherence to strict working practices and SLA measure are required.
Key Operational Responsibilities
Use performance reports/metrics to identify process/availability improvement opportunities
Research and assess new technology for potential deployment
Conduct change inspections; determine associated risks and readiness for implementation
Capacity to quickly gain an understanding of the business processes of multiple Lines of Business
Work schedule flexibility is a requirement as is the ability to adapt to an ever-changing business environment. Customer Satisfaction and providing high systems availability are the priorities of this position
Provide regular management reports / analysis to senior management team regarding Network Incidents, Changes and requests
Implement appropriate tools and processes to automate repeated tasks
Project management, planning skills and the capability to utilize the MS Office suite of products
Interpersonal and communications skills are essential as the person will spend the majority of the time working in a team environment interacting with other towers like Software Group, Automation, etc.,
Participate / Mentor zU Candidates, an ECS Initiative.
Participate in Team Meetings – Global & Virtual Meeting.
Complete Training Classes assigned on time to meet the development plans.
Provide suggestions for improving process and work practices to provide better quality and/or efficiencies
• Minimum 5 years experience as MF Storage/Hardware Engineer
- Z/OS, DFHSM, DFSMS, DFDSS, DFP, ICF Catalogs, HCD, Catalog Recovery Plus, EMC SRDF, EMC Timefinder, EMC Consistency Group,
- EMC GDDR , IBM GDPS, NetView, Rexx , TSO, JCL, EMC VMAX, IBM DS8K, CA-1, CA-Vantage, IBM VTS, OAM.
- Hardware knowledge on large scale hardware vendors (IBM, EMC, BROCADE, CISCO), IBM DS8K HMC, IBM zSERIES CPU HMC,
- IBM TS7740 Specialist, Brocade Network Advisor.
