Equity Trade Support Manager - VP




The Equities Middle Office is responsible for a variety of functions supporting the Equity Derivative, Equity Financing and Cash Equity trading businesses.  This covers multiple markets and products including otc equity derivatives, cash equities, and exchange traded derivatives.

This role will focus on oversight, control and strategy for the trade support team. It will require the individual to provide the team members guidance on daily activities as well as personal career development.  The individual will also be responsible for ensuring proper controls are in place and potential risks are identified.  In addition, the individual will be expected to drive efficiency initiatives and define the operational model for wider business initiatives. These responsibilities entail working closely with the Front Office  (Marketers and Traders), Technology, Product Control, Financial Control and other areas of the firm, both regionally and globally. 

Trade support - Team Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with different areas, including Technology, Product Control, Business Management, Market Risk, and Settlements to implement process, system and product changes

  • Liaise with traders and counterparties to ensure accuracy in trade capture

  • Provide support or resolve any adhoc queries pertaining to the booking, p/l or risk representation for traders in the books

  • Work with Traders, Finance and other groups to resolve various issues affecting PnL

  • Accurately capture trades when assistance is requested

  • Investigate and resolve issues causing breaks or failures for the supported business

  • Monitor various controls implemented to mitigate risk to the business

  • Produce statistics and MIS

Managerial Responsibilities

·         Develop members of the team as individuals and a collective support team

·         Drive business, control and regulatory agenda

·         Identify improvements and influence technology teams to prioritize work that will provide benefit to team

·         First point of escalation for desk heads

·         Consistent focus on improving efficiency and control  



  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to multitask and to work under pressure, prioritizing duties according to risk

  • Previous experience in the Financial Services industry, ideally with understanding of Equity Derivative and/ or Cash Equities products

  • At least 3 years experience managing a team of multiple people

  • Ability to face off to very demanding stakeholders, managing their expectations but moreover develop strong working relationships with them,

  • Excellent problem solving skills in order to identify, understand and address operational and technical issues

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  A key aspect of this is the ability to clearly articulate issues and influence resolution

  • A self motivated individual who is able to deliver with minimal supervision, whilst also working effectively as part of a team

  • Trade support of derivative products for at least 2 years

  • Management of at least 3 people for a minimum of a year

  • Derivative product knowledge

  • Exemplify ability to think globally
