Position Summary

The User Interface Developer is part of a team of developers building a fully ADA-compliant, responsive framework for use by other product teams within the firm. Their expertise in front-end technology and interaction best practices ensure the interface is implemented in the most efficient manner and meets the highest standards of usability.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

The User Interface Developer performs the following functions:

Role Specific Responsibilities
Development (75%)

  • Develop re-usable web components ensuring that they conform to the user patterns as designed by the Client Experience team
  • Provide technical solutions online to support development of enhanced online functionality through use of JavaScript, html and cascading style sheets.
  • Analyze interaction designs for feasibility, collaborating with designers as necessary
  • Assess usability of interaction designs; collaborate with User Interface designers to fully leverage the potential of various front-end technologies
  • Support Usability, QA and UAT testing efforts

Knowledge Sharing / Management (15%)

  • Provide strong technical leadership and direction to the India UI team
  • Mentor the team to come up with new ideas/components for the UI framework
  • Participate in cross-LOB knowledge sharing
  • Support knowledge sharing within the business and IT organizations
  • Proactively share successful User Interface development processes and best practices within/among project teams
  • Champion customer-centricity, usability and ease-of use and promote consistency of the customer experience within the online and across various customer communication channels.

Business Partnership (10%)

  • Establish strong working relationships with Business and Technology team members

Qualifications:

 

Key Position Statistics

  • 12+ years experience in production and front-end development
  • Expert JavaScript and cascading style sheets skills, Internet Technologies, web development, production and UI issues
  • Expert HTML5 skills
  • Experience with MVC frameworks such as Angular, Ember, JQuery, Dojo (Ember preferred)
  • Experience with Device Interoperability development (Browser, Tablet, Mobile)
  • Experience with Accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.0 AA conformance)
  • Server side experience preferred with focus on JSON RESTFUL services
  • Experience with developer environments such as Chrome Developer tools, Sublime, Firebug, HTTP watch
  • Experience with source control software such as GIT, Subversion
  • Experience writing tests (Unit, Integration, Acceptance)
  • Experience developing code in a secure way (Cybersecurity basics)
  • Experience in guiding teams by demonstrating strong technical skills
  • Strong visual design sense; familiarity with branding guidelines
  • Experience in working in a fast paced agile environment

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Estimate work accurately and ship in a timely manner
  • Develop based on design guidelines and existing patterns & standards
  • Willing to collaborate with client experience designers to ensure the right solution is delivered
  • Detail oriented, solid problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of database technologies, technical architecture and content management systems
  • Familiarity with user/customer-centered design and development approaches
