Overview
 
A critical priority for Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) is to ensure that high-quality data is available to run our business and meet our clients' needs. The AWM Chief Data Office (CDO) was established in 2014 to define AWM's data strategy and support for the core data used across AWM and needed to run our business, such as client data, reference data, product data, securities and pricing data, transactions and holdings, and index data. The AWM CDO is positioned in the AWM Operations division. We work with the AWM business and Firmwide CDO to analyze data, ensure data governance and data quality standards are in place, look for efficiencies in business processes, and work with our technology partners to implement these. This specific role is to work within the BAU team within CDO, crossing both the pricing oversight function and the Index onboarding process.
 
Roles and Responsibilities
 
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the following activities:
 
Benchmark additions and Changes: Work with Business groups and support functions to action and co-ordinate any new index requirements, Validating exact data requirements, liaising with Vendors, licensing and sourcing to confirm licensing status and get approval for any potential on boarding costs. Work with our aggregator Rimes to have index added to our standard index feeds.
    
Strategic System Interaction – Work with the strategic BA’s to ensure that any BAU issue’s and demands are captured in the system requirements for the strategic delivery of IBEX.
       
Supporting IBEX Ops:  Provide support to the IBEX Ops team with break issues, new index requests and index cancellations, liaise with the business and operations teams to implement business initiatives and requirements in the firm, document standard operating procedures, identify control points.
        
Subject Matter Expert: Provide specialist and technical support for the business lines in regard to their respective indices and benchmarks, ensuring the licensing rules are enforced, regulations are upheld and business’s understand the tactical and strategic implementation of the IBEX program.
 
Pricing: Assist in the Oversight of offshored activities, and functions provided by the CIB:
  • Day on day price movement
  • Vendor comparison
  • Missing or zero prices
  • Stale prices
Fair valuation: Assist in the administration process of gaining approval for asset fair valuations as well as researching specific stock news updates which could impact the level of a fair values security
 
Control: Maintain standard operating procedures across Pricing and Index BAU functions
 
Other tasks as required
 
Required Experience
 
  • A strong understanding of market reference data, with knowledge of Pricing or index processing highly advantageous
  • Experience at using various market vendor terminals such as Bloomberg, FT, Reuters
  • Ideally experience with either Asset Management, Fund accounting, Hedge Funds or market vendors
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of Financial Services Industry
  • Good technical ability with core Microsoft products
  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in liaising pro-actively with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Fund Accountants, Pricing & index Vendors and Operational support teams
  • The individual will need to have a proactive approach and take ownership and responsibility for key tasks and issue resolution, with the ability to learn new processes quickly and execute them accurately.
  • They will demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and have confidence in interacting with senior management and business partners.
