Job Description:
The Small Business Segment Solutions Strategist is a member of the Product Management team within Chase Merchant Services, reporting to the Head of Segment Solutions and Commercialization.  A key objective of the Segment Solutions and Commercialization team is to ensure alignment of product delivery and segment needs.  Broadly, the team is accountable for the commercialization of all new capabilities, enhancements, and other change events that are sponsored by the Product organization.  In addition, the team owns key segment functions for Small Business and Commercial Bank clients, such as market intelligence, product requirements for client acquisition channels, and the framework for matching product capabilities with client segment needs.
 
The Small Business Segment Solutions Strategist role on the team will be accountable for the following mandates:
  1. Define the Standard Product Offering for each Segment
    • Define the proposed solution (packaged set of capabilities) for Small Business clients. 
    • Investigate whether or not further sub-segmentation is required to effectively map capabilities to client needs. 
    • Ensure recommendations are grounded in a robust exploration of segment insights, existing level of penetration across capabilities, gaps/opportunities relative to the competitive landscape, and our strengths as a merchant acquirer.
    • Identify cross-sell opportunities for existing clients to complement their current configuration and offerings.
    • Support the execution of cross-lines of business sales programs.
  2. Development of Segment Target Financials
    • Serve as the segment subject matter expert in helping to define business case inputs.  For example, providing and vetting assumptions on increased revenue and/or loss avoidance grounded in an understanding of segment and product dynamics.
    • Help to spearhead business case development when the strategy efforts above suggest that investment is required in new capabilities to successfully drive increased share within the segment.
    • Size the client opportunity / target client penetration for value-added capabilities
    • Provide pricing strategy support, serving as the subject matter expert on segment needs when collaborating with finance and analytics in making pricing recommendations
  • Undergraduate Degree Required, MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, such as product development, marketing strategy, and/or management consulting with a track record of proven success
  • Prior experience in financial services broadly, ideally with exposure to payments specifically
  • Strategic thinking and creative problem solving skills with the ability to translate strategy into business plans
  • Excellent financial acumen and analytical skills with prior experience developing business cases
  • Executive presence with strong written and oral communication skills, being comfortable presenting to executive audiences
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills, including the ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels of the organization
  • Customer-obsessed personality, committed to exceeding client expectations
