The main purpose of this person is to effectively manage a team of test leads on multiple projects. The roles and responsibilities are related to core testing activities which would include overall leadership of many test leads on their projects, governance of testing standards and processes, oversight that testing activities are on track and provision of clear communication or escalation to relevant project stakeholders. 
  • Gain understanding of the testing effort for all projects being managed and inter-dependencies between simultaneous projects i.e. code contention, timelines, resource constraints
  • Ensure distribution of test approach document to stakeholders of the project
  • Arrange review of test approach document to gain stakeholder approval
  • Validate testing effort determined and therefore ensure appropriate level of resources are assigned to each project
  • Review system testing plan for scale, coverage and results and provide sign off for entry of code into the user test environment
  • Ensure content of all testing documents is to the appropriate level and standard expected
  • Undertake risk analysis of change and ensure testing cases/scripts defined are of suitable level, coverage and scale
  • Ensure timely delivery of different testing milestones across multiple projects
  • Provide escalation to stakeholders on defect impact and prioritisation
  • Ensure clear communication with Technology project manager in relation to issues arising with environment stability, data losses, code conflicts etc
  • Determine solutions that will mitigate delays impacting testing progress in relation to defects, environment issues or resources
  • Ensure delivery manager is aware of these solutions and is in agreement
  • Provide timely communication or escalation to stakeholders in relation to testing delays and impact to deliverable
  • Validate that all PIV plans are comprehensive, suitable for execution and have correct resource assigned
  • Collate all PIV plans for release and ensure there is overall effective use of resources across all of them and timelines are in line with Technology schedule
  • Engage operations personnel for undertaking PIV activities if it is deemed necessary
  • Collate all implementation information and distribute overall implementation notice for release
  • Engage relevant operations, product personnel to attend organised training courses in relation to changes made to systems or impact to current business processes
  • Arrange a Testing PIR with the test team to identify areas that went well, documents / processes to improve, training and development needs of team
  • Monitor and track actions arising from PIR to ensure they are completed
  • Provide support and guidance to the test leads to aid their development and competence
