Java Cloud Native Developer

Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) is the technology infrastructure organisation for the firm, delivering a wide range of products and services, and partnering with all lines of business to provide high quality service delivery, exceptional project execution and financially disciplined approaches and processes in the most cost effective manner. End User Services (EUS) delivers measurable business value by providing core desktop technology solutions that meet business demand while realizing cost efficiencies. EUS works with our Line of Business partners to develop standardized, resilient operating environments and implement a global technology strategy for the approximately 200,000 users that use our platforms.

A role exists within the Virtual Platform Engineering Development team which has responsibility for the management, configuration and assignment of virtual desktop resources. This job specification is for an Java cloud native application developer for the Platform and Session Automation team reporting to the team lead.

This role specifically requires a Java developer who has a broad experience in developing web API platforms utilizing micro services with oAuth2 authentication and authorization. Previous experience with Spring Cloud Services and Spring Cloud Security will be required.

Responsibilities

• Should be able to independently design and develop complex software.
• Responsible for timely delivery as agreed within the project without compromising on product quality.
• Takes ownership of code quality. Actively and effectively reviews source code, takes defect prevention steps in software developed.
• Interacts well with peers and communicates in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written on his/her work.
• Adopt agile development methodologies
• Must have recent experience working within a large/global enterprise environment, developing, documenting and deploying N-tier distributed applications.
• Must have a proven ability to think creatively, and work autonomously providing full and thorough documentation around updated code and activities.
• Must be able to ensure appropriate and relevant communication with stakeholders

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical / IT field.
• Six or more years of relevant experience.
• Six or more years programming experience with Java/J2EE in a Linux environment including Spring framework and REST, Web services.
• Experience with open source databases such as Cassandra or MariaDB.
• General knowledge of application design principles, practices design patterns, DevOps and software life cycles.

Ideally will also have:

• Experience in source code version including SVN, Stash or Github.
• Experience in testing automation, continuous integration with tools such as Jenkins and Jira.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
