USD Clearing Product Manager Role Description:
USD Clearing is the preeminent clearer of USD globally. J.P. Morgan Chase is the largest USD clearer and as a product manager of this business the candidate will be managing the largest product in its industry/segment. This role will be responsible for product performance, strategy and over P&L management. A Product Associate must be able to become an expert of their product and is expected to be able to create solutions or solve client problems within the scope of their P&L. Product associates own the process of generating, developing, and curating new ideas as well as prioritizing and promoting the most relevant ideas into features. Also, as an expert of the business, the Product Associate will also represent the bank at industry forums and client events. The candidate should feel comfortable in front of clients or large groups. The Product Associate must be able to create relationships with functional and support partners to align business and client needs. This will require partnering closely with functional areas to communicate the business vision in order to establish accountability and ownership.
This role will own the core product suite which constitutes the most mature and highly used services within USD Clearing.
Manage and grow the product P&L and drive new business opportunities.
Gain a deep understanding of the customer experience, identify and fill product gaps, and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and potential external partners such as regulators.
Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.
Translate product strategy and client needs into requirements and prototypes.
Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact.
Work closely with engineering or technology teams to deliver new features quickly and ready for sale and be the central point of contact for all system changes.
Drive product launches which require working with marketing, sales, fellow product managers, risk, service, and compliance teams.
Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed. This may include creating high quality marketing collateral for the product.
Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding of the business strategy across the organization.
Represent the company by visiting customers and leverage this opportunity to solicit feedback on company products and services.
From time to time, this candidate may need to represent the firm at industry events and speak to innovations or trends in the market.
Understand the risks inherent in clearing products and make appropriate decisions regarding the acceptance or mitigation of them.
Partner with other product managers and internal stakeholders as required to complete industry and regulatory reporting/ questionnaires.
Review all technology changes to ensure they are consistent with strategic objectives of the product and with the desired client experience of the business.
Proven work experience in product management or product analyst. Alternatively, may have extensive knowledge of high value payments business with a demonstrated ability to deliver upon the requirements of the role.
Exceptional abilities to create relationships with partners and stakeholders to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
Superior written and verbal communication skills in conveying complex processes. Much of a Product Manager’s job entails explaining “why.”
Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done.
Ability to learn new products and processes, analyze for improvement, and carry out evidenced based actions to implement improvements.
Able to develop business cases with operational and business metrics to support.
Proactive, takes ownership of initiatives from the start; sees through to completion
Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience working with software development and web technologies.
Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization.
MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Finance/Business.
May require travel up to 10%.
