The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.

 
Group Overview

Latam GIB Business Management provides strategic and operational thought leadership, analysis and project management / execution for the regional GIB products and coverage, including M&A, ECM and DCM.

 

Reporting to the Latam GIB Business Manager (ED), the primary function of the role is to provide comprehensive strategic and finance support to the head of Debt Capital Markets within Latin America.

 
Key Responsibilities
  • Providing analytical support to the Latam DCM and Latam F&BM management teams
  • Maintaining the fee pipeline & forecast, which involves partnering with the business and controller teams to estimate the revenue impact for future transactions
  • Engaging with deal teams on potential loan transactions to assess the business impact of credit exposure, Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) and liquidity
  • Running competitor analysis and managing external and internal league table results to measure market and wallet share
  • Develop essential strategic responses to industry analyses - performing objective reviews of competitor issues, weaknesses, gaps within industry verticals and/or regions
  • Supporting the shaping and execution of strategic initiatives, including critical cross-cutting programs through the LOB-wide expense management and productivity initiatives
  • Forecasting and analyzing headcount and expenses for the business
  • Ensuring the business maintains compliance with evolving regulatory regimes
  • Support the Regional Heads and CFO with planning, forecasting, quarterly performance presentations, client analysis and account planning support
  • Partner with Business Control office on internal and external audit exercises – managing internal control and navigating the regulatory environment and ensure we remediate any deficient processes
  • Participation in IB task groups, e.g. DealWorks Design, Global Pipeline, etc.
  • Manage deal reporting and reconciliation with external league table providers (Dealogic, Thompson, Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Regional MIS – responsible for weekly/monthly/quarterly analysis of performance, pipeline, new business development, trends, issues and opportunities to expand the business
  • Product execution – managing the debt underwriting commitments committee process, overseeing adherence to operating procedures, conflicts checks, engagement letters, other BAU issues
  • Support ad hoc projects led by product and coverage business managers and by CIB Banking F&BM senior management
  • Build effective partnerships with business and functional peers to manage the end to end business environment (Legal, Compliance, HR, Marketing/Events)

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience (Investment Banking), ideally coupled with financial and business management experience
  • Superior strategic thinking and problem solving abilities
  • An outstanding ability to analyze business challenges, apply quantitative analytical approaches to solve them, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams
  • Ideal experience/background in Investment banking product knowledge – i.e. operating procedures, accounting and control policies
  • Investment Banking product knowledge expert regarding operating procedures, accounting and control policies
  • Must be a confident leader -- possessing a strength of personality and intellect to gain the respect of demanding business heads and global finance executive management team
  • Must have a collaborative and participative management style. Professionalism, sensitivity, discretion and sound decision-making skills allied with the ability to interact at senior executive level are essential
  • Driven to identify key areas of enhancement, with a focus on creating efficiencies, structure and control
  • Working knowledge of accounting policy and GAAP preferred but not required
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask well under pressure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills -- as well as superior influencing and relationship management skills
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus
