The Intermediary Strategic Partnerships, team is part of the UK Funds Sales Group and is responsible maintaining and growing JPMAM’s strategic partnerships with the leading UK & Intl Platforms, Rating agencies and Life Cos (both execution and advisory).
As Head of the Intermediary Strategic Partnerships team, this individual has overall responsibility for ensuring JPMAM forges strong strategic partnerships with the leading Life Cos, ratings agencies and Platforms in the UK. This individual leads relationships with senior management at these firms, with responsibility for ensuring JPMAM product is optimally represented across their propositions, targets significant outsource mandate opportunities, agrees commercial terms and facilitates access to their underlying distribution to increase sales flow into JPMAM product.
This individual is also responsible for monitoring platform developments in the marketplace (advisory and Execution only), ensuring that JPMAM is positioned for any strategic investment partnership opportunities.
He or she is required to work in close partnership with the respective senior members of JPMAM’s Distribution and Marketing teams to communicate strategic direction and focus with these clients, set sales targets and ensure a coordinated head office/local branch sales relationship. This individual will also work closely with JPMAM colleagues across the wider firm and be reporting into the Head of Intermediary Sales.
Key Objectives of the Role
Responsibility for the overall articulation of JPMAM’s strategic aims to grow our market share with the UK’s leading Platforms, Life Cos and rating agencies.
Establish and maintain a robust and transparent operating model for the monitoring of JPMAMs Fund panel relationships across Life Cos and Platforms.
Maximize sales opportunity by nurturing relationships with the key Life Cos and Platforms ensuring optimal JPM product coverage across propositions, targeting outsourcing opportunities and forging preferential partner relationships.
Co-ordinate with the Channel Heads of Intermediary Sales, Global Strategic relationships and Marketing to ensure seamless implementation of Head office Strategy with field execution across key strategic partnerships
Manage new business development agenda by building relationships with existing partners and potential new entrants to the platform and execution only market place
Ensure that JPMAM is included in all relevant fund partnership programmes run by the platforms and maximise the marketing and event opportunities offered.
Forge strong relationships with key internal partners, including Product Strategy, Product Development, the Investment Desks and the Institutional Business, so that they can understand and most effectively support these key strategic partnerships.
Manage efforts across the intermediary strategic partners, ensuring adoption of disciplined sales management practices, including full utilization of sales management tools for effective tracking of client activity and pipeline
Ensure an effective risk management and control structure is implemented and maintained across the team. This will include reviewing and assessing the effectiveness of such controls, identifying gaps and taking appropriate action if and when necessary
Supporting platform and insurance clients with any regulatory requirements, e.g. MiFid II and other operational issues such as Fund mergers, price changes etc
Significant UK Life Co, rating and Platform relationship management experience
Strong and proven business management and management skills
Consultative sales skills with significant experience of developing and managing successful partnerships/relationships both externally and internally across the firm.
Strong understanding of the regulatory environment and the ability to promote a strong control environment.
Good technical investment knowledge and market knowledge of clients, competitors and trends
Insight and understanding into the operational side of onboarding clients and supporting ongoing operational requirements
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
