Job Description:
Reporting to the Treasury Service (TS) Executive for Asia Pacific and to the Senior Country Officer for Japan, the TS Head of Japan is responsible for:
 
Core Responsibilities: 
  • Overall responsibility for the TS business in Japan, which represents a core revenue base for the business in the region and has considerable growth targets over the next 5 years.
  • Measured by revenues, sales, profitability and market share of the business against our strategic goals.
  • Provide oversight to the TS business in Japan, not only the business aspects but for risk & control which includes all the regulatory related aspects
  • Defining the strategic objectives for the TS business in Japan in partnership with the global / regional executives and segment executives
  • Overseeing the TS sales function as well as partnering with the bankers under Global Corporate Banking on inbound and outbound Corporate sales in Japan to ensure sales targets are met and all cross selling opportunities are realized
  • Partner closely with Banking, Markets and Investor Services to maximize the business opportunity utilizing their relationship   
  • Driving our presence in the market and representing JPMorgan Japan TS  when meeting key clients and actively participate in external market/industry forums as well as building good relationship with  regulators
  • Maintaining oversight of key operating & control functions in addition to sales co-working with Operations, Technology, Risk, Credit, Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance to ensure smooth operation of the end to end business across the locations.
  • Representing Japan TS at regional and global forum and work with the overseas product partners to prioritize investments for the TS Japan business in partnership with other Lines of business
  • Managing the TS country governance model in Japan working closely with the country SCO 
  • Ensuring TS co-ordinates with other LOBs in region and remains closely aligned with the overall strategy for Japan
  • Playing an integral part of the TS regional management committee as well as representing TS at the JPMC Country committees in Japan
  • Participating in developing the Japan’s people agenda with accountability for driving talent acquisition in Japan
  • Ensuring corporate and regional TS programs are implemented across Japan
  • Broad based knowledge/experience in the Transaction Banking (preferable to have Trade Finance)/Financial Services industry, ideally with a Commercial Banking background
  • A strong business understanding of the Japan market
  • Proven management skills ideally in multiple disciplines (i.e. Sales, Client Mgmt, Product, Operations, Risk& control, regulatory, Legal, Finance)
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization managing team size over fifty
  • Experience performing a role at Executive Director to Managing Director level
  • P&L management experience
  • An inspirational leader who can manage multiple projects and/or disciplines with a successful background in developing and implementing strategic initiatives in both a competitive and changing environment
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight timeframes
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build a network and develop strong working relationships quickly
  • Proven ability to work as a team and is able to manage people agendas
  • Business level fluency in Japanese is required
