In this role you will provide regional tax advisory services in relation to the Corporate and Investment Bank's Custody and Fund Services businesses. This will involve product / regulatory change advisory, review of new business initiatives and general corporate tax planning matters. The position will report to a member of the regional Corporate Tax management team, working closely with business front office and support group personnel.
 
Job Purpose
 
  • Act as a primary contact to provide tax advisory and tax risk management services to the Global Custody and related security services businesses such as Securities Lending, Collateral Management, Fund Accounting and Depository Receipts.
 
Role and Responsibilities
 
  • Partner closely with the line of business front office and operational teams, Corporate Tax colleagues, external service providers and advisors, and functional support group personnel located both within and outside Asia to deliver technical and commercial tax advice to manage tax risk for JP Morgan.
  • Perform research on global tax issues impacting portfolio investors, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region, including domestic law, double tax treaties and international organization guidance.
  • Work in cross functional teams to perform tax due diligence on new business initiatives.
  • Maintain tax technical data which drives the business’s operational tax service.
  • Review legal agreements with respect to tax related matters.
  • Technical advisory for business on development and management of effective controls for new products and work with responsible stakeholders to review and maintain oversight over existing products / platforms.
  • Pursue constant and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • The position will report to a member of the regional Corporate Tax team.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a tax professional in a professional services organization or large corporate, preferably focused on international tax concepts. Knowledge of U.S. tax principles would be highly beneficial.

  • Well-developed analytical thinking, attention to detail and a positive / proactive attitude.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders across the organization.

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex business transactions and products and an ability to understand the practical and commercial aspects of the tax issues under consideration.
