Within the CIB, Credit Risk Management is responsible for managing credit exposure generated by lending, trading, cash management and other activities. The group is organized by geography with teams aligned by industry. CIB Credit Risk Managers lead the client credit relationship in partnership with CIB Coverage, Global Corporate Banking, Investment Grade & Leveraged Finance, Securitized Products, Sales & Trading, Treasury & Security Services and Legal.
The Insurance Credit Risk Team manages exposure to a client base comprised of industry leaders in the North American property and causality, life, reinsurance and insurance broker industries. New members joining the team develop the analytical skills necessary for assessing clients within these industries and for reviewing the structure of J.P. Morgan’s financing or trading activity with those clients.
Job Responsibilities:
Analysts are assigned to cover a portfolio of clients on an ongoing basis with primary responsibility for performing credit analysis and client exposure management. Specific duties include:
  • Preparing and presenting credit approval memos in connection with transactions and annual reviews, by:
    • Performing financial analysis including stress testing, projections and peer comparisons
    • Assessing creditworthiness of clients and recommending appropriate credit ratings
    • Describing the structure and terms of products and analyzing related risk metrics
    • Participating in on-site or telephonic client diligence meetings
  • Timely execution and processing of transactions in credit systems by coordinating with middle office and business partners
  • Monitoring, investigating and escalating risk metrics associated with client activity
  • Preparing and presenting portfolio reviews to senior credit executives and business partners
  • Maintaining updated industry and client research
  • Corporate finance and accounting coursework
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks and issues
  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset; competent with numbers
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of understanding, describing and debating complex concepts
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word software
  • Professional work experience in financial services (investment banking or similar) preferred
  • Credit risk experience preferred
