Role Summary  
As a member of the Exotics middle office, your primary responsibilities include trade capture, trade management, client servicing, and controls for both the underlying derivative, repo and hedge transactions.  The Trade Support aspect requires strict control of trades booked, liaising with internal departments and clients - and escalating to management where appropriate. Trade support works independently from the Front Office and are key to the control of our business ensuring the highest level of quality is achieved at all times. Middle office is also the primary operations contact for all client questions and concerns.  The candidate will work closely with Traders, Marketers, Derivatives Research, Senior Management, Technology, Operations, Finance, Market Risk, Audit and Compliance, all both Domestic and International.   In this role one should be familiar with the various methods of accounting for accrual and MTM products and the requirements necessary to achieve the accounting methods.   Candidate will be expected to lead discussions with clients so interpersonal skills are a must.
 
Main responsibilities
  • Provide operational support for the Exotic Derivatives desk
  • Product coverage includes Exotics Derivatives, Exchange Traded Products and Interest Rate Hedge Products
  • Understands and performs validation of all relevant derivatives and hedging products
  • Understands P&L process and basic P&L decomposition for products and systems used
  • Understands cash flows of the business, and how the cash are being funded on a daily basis
  • Understands front to back Operations process to include the key elements of confirmations and settlements
  • Understands key elements of other infrastructure groups i.e. Finance, Market risk, Credit risk, Legal, Tax and Compliance
  • Ensures all activity generated for relevant product line by the Front Office is processed effectively
  • Produces and explain daily P&L and positions
  • Ensures all issues are dealt with effectively and resolved accordingly in a timely manner
  • Supports clients ensuring that Operations can meet the service expectations of both internal and external customers
  • Reviews, collaborate and prepare potentially new operational procedures in line with changes and developments in the business
  • Produces adhoc scenario based reporting, as requested by Management
  • Drives middle office change Management and Technology to increase automation and controls

  • The specific experience necessary for this position is:
  • Strong finance knowledge is required; knowledge of securities products is a plus
  • Basic accounting knowledge is required
  • Proficiency and prior process trading, calculating, reporting, and analyzing daily Profit&Loss statement experience is required
  • Self-motivation and demonstration of initiative
  • Excellent Analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication presentation skills

  • Keen to question everything and understand the detail behind the numbers and/or process
  • BA or BS degree is necessary
