Job Description:
Consumer & Community Banking (“CCB”) serves 65+million customers with a broad range of consumer financial services, including personal banking, investment advice, small business lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments and auto financing.  It is made up of various lines of business: Consumer Banking, Business Banking, Chase Wealth Management, Card Services, Commerce Solutions, Auto Finance, and Mortgage Banking.
The CCB Controllers Oversight and Control Team’s primary function is to serve as the first line of defense in identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risk and control issues. The Team works to solidify an effective control environment within the CCB Finance central functions in accordance with the Firmwide and CCB control framework. The Team also works in partnership with CCB Finance central functions to enhance and develop both tactical and strategic controls and to serve as a central point of contact for key business partners such as Firmwide and LOB level Oversight and Control, Compliance, Legal, Risk and Audit. In doing so, the Team is able to efficiently engage the appropriate teams in a timely manner and provide a real time and holistic view of the control environment.
The below describes the duties performed by an individual working as a Senior Associate:
  • Become a strategic, valued partner to the CCB Finance central functions as well as to control focused organizations throughout the firm (Oversight & Control, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit.)
  • Communicate key messages, recommendations and responses to senior management (e.g. CCB Controller , CCB CFO), internal audit, external auditors and regulators
  • Partner with CCB Finance central functions in the development of the control framework for Treasury, Planning & Analysis, Controllers, Technology Finance and Operations Finance processes.
  • Provide guidance as to best practices for an effective internal control environment appropriate for highly regulated businesses
  • Facilitate the semi-annual Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA) processes across the coverage area
  • Drive and perform the annual control testing across the coverage area
  • Monitor for and communicate new Firmwide and LOB policies and guidance to partner teams
  • Provide feedback and guidance on model implementation and control design 
  • Execute business resiliency planning and testing within CCB central Finance teams
  • Strong background in, and familiarity with the Financial Services Industry
  • Outstanding ability to analyze problems and keen attention to detail
  • Proven ability to :
    • identify and rectify internal control weaknesses and deficiencies
    • design and build efficient and effective operational processes
    • research, understand and apply regulations appropriately
    • use technology to improve processes and/or strengthen controls
    • influence and work effectively across departmental and business lines
    • identify, access, prioritize and communicate issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, implementing effective control environments a plus
  • Experience with banking regulators a plus
  • Ability to coordinate issues, findings and practices with colleagues across regions and/or divisions.
  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • Good team player - one who is able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgment.
  • Finance, Accounting or Business four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years public accounting, internal audit, compliance or regulatory experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret legal debt agreements and related documents
  • Desire to improve and /or reengineer processes
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills & excellent business writing and verbal communication skills
