The Tax Reporting Control and Testing department is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of year end information to Chase customers, investors and the IRS.
 
This position manages a staff consisting of full-time exempt employees and is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of tax information to consumer customers including 1098 and 1099 tax forms and regulatory disclosures. This position is also responsible for TIN certification, back up withholding compliance, IRS penalty notices, remediation efforts, special projects and regulatory monitoring and research. The position works closely with the Compliance, Legal and Corporate Tax Departments to monitor all system and regulatory changes and is responsible for the identification and communication to applicable stakeholders of any and all impacts to the tax reporting process. This position will also monitor the Servicing and Default environments for any impacts to year end reporting processes.
 
The person in this position will ensure that written procedures are documented and that these procedures are updated, are being followed and that system and procedural changes are documented within them.  Also, ensure that all staff is properly trained to execute their responsibilities within the department.  He/she will monitor and complete departmental reporting to ensure service levels, quality standards and productivity targets are met and to provide historical records. A primary responsibility is the management of the staff to achieve a positive employee experience and build a high performance team that prioritizes controls and drives business results. This includes regular coaching and feedback, administering the performance development process, developing individual skills and ensuring ongoing training on department functions.
Qualifications:
  • Five years experience with Mortgage Servicing
  • Three years experience in a leadership or people management position (preferably manager)
  • A familiarity with IRS and banking regulations and policies is preferred
  • Ability to research compliance issues and develop policies and procedures based on findings
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of other areas for department deliverables accurately and on-time
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology to resolve issues and increase productivity
  • A high degree of analytical ability and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to develop an effective communication management plan around projects
  • Ability to track and execute multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and accurately while meeting deadlines
  • Experience and proficiency with Chase consumer servicing applications including MSP, VLS, Mortgage Banking Workstation, Recovery One, Taxport, i-Vault! and OneView
  • Proficient MS Word, Excel skills are required.  Experience with MS Project and Access is preferred
  • A familiarity with project management methodology including requirements gathering and testing
