The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB’s business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.

 

Overview

 

Finance & Business Management’s goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.

 

The CIB Core Planning & Analysis (P&A) will be responsible for overall business intelligence reporting, management information, expense management for business within CIB.

Core Activities: 

  • Define priorities for the team, oversee core processes to ensure timely, robust, accurate and relevant analysis is provided to business heads, corporate, and other stakeholders
  • Lead financial analysis across the franchise, and have the ability to translate financial / operational data to meaningful information / analysis resulting in improved business performance
  •  Provide monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc management reporting on business performance together with relevant analysis to aid business heads/CFO in decision making
  • Contribute and present to senior management on financial performance, budgets, strategic reviews
  • Ensure processes are in place to provide the proper level of transparency on expenses with a focus on key drivers; review expenses and driving reductions in the business cost base
  • Assist in ad-hoc business strategic projects and providing analytics to the CFO
  • Provide thought leadership and influence on driving consistent reporting practices across our businesses, best practices, reporting solutions and implement controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Continue developing deeper analytical capabilities of the organization to provide business-focused support

As a member of the CIB P&A, this person will have a sound understanding of the business operations and of the key drivers within the businesses.  The successful candidate will have:

  1. Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail and determination to succeed
  2. Strong project management & process re engineering experience with track record of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  3. Contribute and present to senior management on financial performance, budgets, strategic reviews
  4. Provide monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc management reporting on business performance together with relevant analysis to aid business heads/CFO in decision making
  5. Ensure processes are in place to provide the proper level of transparency on expenses with a focus on key drivers; review expenses and driving reductions in the business cost base
  6. Lead Financial analysis for CIB, and have the ability to translate financial/ operational data to meaningful information/ analysis resulting in improved business performance
  7. Strong partnership skills with proven experience of collaborating with and influencing others across functions and product and locations;
  8. Ownership for resolving issues with any development intervention or follow-up necessary
  9. Assist in ad-hoc business strategic projects and providing analytics to the CFO
  10. Provide thought leadership and influence on driving consistent reporting practices across our businesses, best practices, reporting solutions and implement controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Minimum of 8+ years of business and financial management experience
  • Execution focused self-starter with strong initiative and eye for detail; able to take ownership and work independently, as well as on a team
  • Excellent oral and written  communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Comfortable operating in a demanding  and fast-paced environment
  • Responds with flexibility in dynamic environment and comfortable with  addressing ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to partner well and influence others
  • Process-oriented, with focus on continuous streamlining/improvement
