The Payment Brand Initiatives (PBI) Planning Manager will be a part of the Payment Network Office and reside within the Acquirer Network Relations and Operations team.  This individual will be focused on the intake and prioritization of all of the quarterly Acquiring initiatives that both the traditional Payment Brands (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, etc.) as well as Debit Networks (Pulse, Star, NYCE, etc.) issue regularly.  This candidate will also need to ensure harmony between both the Issuing as well as Acquiring initiatives requested by all of the Networks.
 
 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for adhering to an overall governance process around the planning, prioritizing and articulation of necessary changes being issued by our Acquirer Network partners and vendors.  In addition, this individual will be responsible for maintaining the inventory, strategy and road maps for those entities as well.  Further, this individual will be the primary resource on point to maintain and oversee the overall health and status of the quarterly PBI projects, and communicate accordingly within the Payment Network Office.  The successful candidate will have the ability to lead and influence, and drive meaningful productive change within the PBI process.
 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with the PBI governance process:
    • manage the intake process of change requests from the networks,
    • work with our internal partners to ensure all procedural requirements are followed for project initiation,
    • manage the prioritization of requests to determine project scope,
    • ensure our PBI calendar is followed and take the necessary escalation paths if not.
  • Set the strategy and decision making of PBI items and oversee the execution of that strategy.
  • Manage the forward looking Network roadmaps to ensure inclusion in the appropriate quarterly release, or serve as a stand alone project.
  • Develop and author the PBI project charters, maintain oversight of key dates and deliverables, as well as identify issues and risks.
  • Facilitate and lead the Concept Review and NBIA processes for the Acquirer Network team.
  • Continually evaluate and prioritize the initiatives and maintain a close working relationship with the Business Engineering team.
  • Communication of PBI project health and status to the leadership team within the Payment Network Office and provide input and review of the project dashboard.
  • Work cross functionally with the necessary departments within Chase (e.g. Product, Field Strategy, Communications, etc.) to ensure the quarterly releases as well as other Payment Brand functionality is implemented in an efficient and least impactful way.
  • Collaborate with other LOBs within Chase to ensure harmony with Issuing and Acquiring initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure necessary waivers follow the required process and are on file with the brands as necessary.
  • Serve as key member of the PBI steering committee, and work with the internal partners to continually update the necessary PBI calendars from year to year.
  • Maintain current SOPs for the PBI process, as well as seek areas for process improvement.
  • Attend the technical conferences that the Payment Brands host that provide the upcoming release changes.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 7+ years of leadership experience in the payments industry
  • Direct working experience with the Payment Brands (e.g. Visa, MasterCard, etc.)
  • Highly skilled with operational, project management, and process improvement acumen
