CIB Market Risk Management is an independent risk group, reporting to the Corporate & Investment Bank’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO), which identifies, measures, monitors and controls market risk. The group forms the key interface for discussing risk issues with the trading desks but retains independent reporting lines through the Risk management chain.

 

CIB Market Risk performs the following primary functions:

  • Independent ongoing identification, monitoring and control of market risks, ensuring exposure are made transparent to senior management, the businesses and regulators
  • Performance of stress testing and qualitative risk assessments
  • Analysis of aggregated risks and tail risk exposure
  • Facilitation of efficient risk-return decisions
  • Regular dialogue with the trading businesses with respect to risk appetite, risk limits, large and complex transactions. 
 

CIB Risk is seeking an MD level candidate to head the CIB Market Risk Securitized Products Group, based in New York. This person will lead a trading floor based team of circa 15 professionals, located across NYC and London.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Leading the market risk coverage team for the global Securitized Products Group and Investment Bank Portfolio;
  • Preparing for Crisis and volatile market conditions ensuring no P&L surprises.
  • Assessing the appropriateness of the risk reward profile of the portfolio and of new large or complex transactions; ability to challenge business decisions as required;
  • Highlighting concentrated or concerning risk positions;
  • Delivering ongoing sustainability of regulatory commitments (eg CCAR);
  • Enhancing current risk measures and introducing new ones to improve the risk representation of the book;
  • Tightening of the control environment by identifying shortcomings and remediating open issues;
  • Understanding and leading improvements in our Stress Testing methodology:
  • Assisting in the development of new tools or projects to enhance our risk management capabilities;
  • Coordinating  with technologists in the business and Risk around strategic and tactical initiatives;
  • Partnering with our colleagues from other control functions (Valuation control, model risk…);

  • At least 10 years of mortgage experience in market risk management, trading or structuring;
  • Market Risk or other risk management experience required;
  • Strong analytical & quantitative skills; competent in financial instruments PnL profile and risk sensitivities;
  • People management and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Clear oral and written communication;
  • Strong in controls, project management, time management;
  • Experience with regulatory interaction and familiarity with regulatory rules pertaining to risk;.
