Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves nearly 60 million households and 4 million small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance and investment advice.

JPMC is investing in innovative ways to deepen customer engagement and profitability through the use of digital channels. The ambition is to position JPMC as the undisputed leader in digital financial services and payments and to enable JPMC to deliver the highly personalized, real time experiences that customers increasingly expect.
The Digital Businesses and Data Services team in CCB is responsible for developing and maintaining middleware components and the data layer which sit at the heart of Mobile and Online applications. We are rapidly innovating new products which interact with the Services tier, as well as investing in the future architecture of Cloud and micro-services.
As a Middleware Java Software Engineer, you will work on projects to improve the resilience and continuous availability of our core processing applications covering a wide range of business functions. You will also help develop a state of the art system for end-end business transaction monitoring, and apply industry patterns to ensure applications are cloud-ready and resilient. This is a software engineering role where you will work with solution architects, project managers, business analysts and other developers in an Agile environment. This is a green-field effort and a unique opportunity to solve a challenging engineering problem in the Digital space.
  • Analyze applications and system flows and determine gaps in resilience and monitoring
  • Develop a new monitoring solution based on strategic priorities
  • Develop and implement a standard framework which all Java applications must follow
  • Modify functionality of existing applications, potentially adding new business features
  • Develop dashboards to measure key performance indicators
  • Ensure all business flows and critical application layers are appropriately and accurately monitored
  • Evaluate industry solutions and tools
  • Develop an event correlation engine to combine alerts data from multiple sources (infrastructure, network, etc) and provide a cohesive end-end view to detect issues
  • Develop a system to trace web service calls across multiple teams and provide an end-end view of critical business transactions
  • 5+ year’s experience in server side Java programming in a Websphere and/or Tomcat environment
  • 3+ years experience working on an Agile Scrum team
  • Strong understanding of Java server technologies: XML, JMS, JAX-WS, CXF
  • Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot
  • Strong understanding of OOP & SOA principles, design patterns, industry best practices
  • Strong understanding of Java concurrency, concurrency patterns, experience building thread safe code
  • Experience with TDD, code testability standards, JUnit/Mockito
  • Experience building REST and SOAP web services using Java
  • Experience with open source frameworks, specifically from Apache, Google, Netflix
  • Experience with MQ
  • Experience with SQL/Stored Procedures on one of the following databases (DB2, MySQL, Oracle)
  • Experience with scripting and working in a Linux environment
  • Experience with high volume, mission critical applications
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced financial services/digital focused delivery environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
