Global Market Infrastructures (“GMI”) team is part of the Corporate & Investment Bank Chief Administrative Office and is responsible for the selection and management of the network of agent banks used by the firm.  In this role, the group covers the purchasing and maintenance of securities services (custody and clearing) and cash services (payments and other foreign currency services) for LOBs firm-wide.  The group also maintains third party oversight of Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs) relationships in which J.P. Morgan is a direct participant, such as central counterparties, central securities depositories and payment systems.  Currently, that network spans nearly 200 financial market infrastructures and over 400 agent banks, including sub-custodians, nostro account relationships, and cash agent/partner banks in over 100 markets.  The team works closely with these entities and regulatory authorities in each country to identify market practices, tax rules & strategies, and rules associated with foreign investment. 
As a firm-wide function, GMI is comprised of over 130 team members, supporting multiple LOBs including Corporate & Investment Bank (i.e. TS, IS, Markets), Commercial Bank, and Asset Management. GMI provides a global focus for the firm in order to leverage buying power worldwide, developing in- and out-sourcing initiatives, and management of the associated risks.

Job Description: 
  • Impact on business:
    • Manage GMI senior management awareness and engagement around regional network management activities.
    • Working with the GMI market managers and assisting with risk management
    • Manager the MIO regional book of work completion under the MRA standards, anticipate risks or any roadblocks and escalate issues to the senior management in a timely manner.
    • Drive adoption of GMI Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) processes within the GMI group. Identify areas of any deviation from the process and engage to rectify.
  • Leadership and teamwork:
    • Oversee the tracking of regional network management activities.
    • Manage all aspects of the regional MIO team including but not limited to; day-to-day activities, performance management, provide SME advice and training on TPO requirements.
    • Cultivate the culture of risk and regulatory awareness across the wider GMI group.         
  • Customers / stakeholders:
    • Establish and flourish relationship with the senior management team by constant engagement and regularly updating the team with TPO status, identified issues and recommend resolutions.
    • Establish as a ‘go-to’ person and lead the accountability within the regional market managers/GMI co-coordinators group as well as internal business partners representing MIO at a regional level.
    • Coordinate audit requests by partnering with wider GMI group to deliver documentary evidence of completed processes and associated controls and standards.
    • Participation in pre and post in-country visit meetings with market manager group to discuss agent requirements and TPO gaps.
  • Operational effectiveness and control
    • End-to-end TPO oversight responsibilities on the agent banks and FMIs in the region.
    • Partner with the market managers, and internal business partners to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report risk.
    • Manage issues and action item management along with remediation activities.
    • Identify opportunities and improve existing network management TPO processes and reporting including agent banks / FMIs scorecard process and MIS generation.
    • Improve existing issues and management of remediation action processes and reporting.
    • Ensure a robust maker-checker process is implemented and followed including generation and second-round risk review on TPO questionnaires to agent banks / FMIs including Due Diligence Questionnaire, Attestation, Know Your Agent and Final Assessment.
    • Handle regional inbound KYC requests.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in the financial services industry and knowledge of the banking services across Cash and Securities business;
  • Experience in KYC / compliance / regulatory environment;
  • Organized, methodical and analytical in approach with strong sense of deliverables;
  • A self-motivator who is able to question and think critically;
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with peers and management, and with Agent Banks and FMIs;
  • Strong working knowledge on MIS, MS office suite
