The goal of the Global Business Resiliency (GBR) Team is to ensure firm wide oversight of business resiliency.  Business resiliency focuses on ensuring that the firm can maintain key business processes, systems and support functions in the event of disruptive events. 

 

The Global Head of Resiliency Coverage leads a team of regional relationship managers that partner with the Firms resiliency lines in the development and implementation of the firm-wide business resiliency program.  Further, this individual works closely with each line of business to:

  • Provide continuity of client and customer services while protecting the firm’s employees and assets;
  • Engage senior management on key aspects of the program, including determining the resiliency risk appetite, strategy, leadership and program oversight;
  • Proactively manage resiliency risks to incorporate appropriate mitigations and controls;
  • Develop and maintain resiliency plans based on impact analysis and criticality; and
  • Help employees understand their role in recovery scenarios and undertake validation tests and exercises across critical functions and locations.

Reporting directly to the Global Head of Business Resiliency, this executive also helps to operationalize many cross-firm initiatives and works closely with Corporate & Technology executives on company-wide projects to assist the CAO in driving issues to resolution.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides 24x7 “Follow the Sun” coverage of JPMC sites across the globe and monitoring of Priority One technology incidents to support the Firms crisis command centers and Senior leadership
  • Ensures standardization of processes across all locations using a global engagement model
  • Directs and assumes responsibility for the maintenance and effectiveness of JP Morgan Chase's business resiliency program through standardized planning, enhanced testing, quality assurance, and a bi-annual review of the resiliency lines
  • Monitors performance measurement and capability dashboards for metrics reporting.  As required, meets with executive management to present and discuss methodologies, capability status and strategies for enterprise contingency planning.
  • Partners with Global Security to lead major tabletop exercises, locational simulations and Site Incident Management Team (SIMT) awareness exercises. 
  • Highlights risks & areas for improvement post each exercise and ensures issues are captured and mitigated in the Firms Resiliency Data Management System (RDMS)
  • Develops strong understanding of middle and back office functions so as to be able to engage in and help drive problem resolution
  • Works with each Line of Business and Corporate Function to identify points of vulnerability (i.e., physical threats, cyber) and recommend risk reduction strategies
  • Provides strategic direction to Operating/Steering Committee members (during off-site visits) on enhancing the resiliency of their program operations
  • Confirms to the Board of Directors that they have met their commitment in overseeing the business continuity planning process in accordance with the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council
  • Act as a liaison for CAO with line of business executives to stay abreast of key projects and create proper reporting mechanisms to assess progress against stated goals
  • Develops and maintains relationships with regulatory agencies to facilitate plan development, communications and response effort coordination. 
  • Integral in the design and administration of resiliency role-based training for the purpose of educating Resiliency Approvers, Coordinators and Owners on how to effectively plan for disruptions
  • Stays current on resiliency preparedness best practices, external regulations and industry standards
  • Leads, coaches and provides direction to a team of business resiliency professionals.  Ensures that the team is cohesive and aligned towards the same goals.

GSIC

  • The candidate must have a bachelor's of degree
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Business Resiliency experience and technical aptitude pertaining to BIAs, Planning, Testing, and Reporting
  • Operational and Crisis Management experience
  • Exceptional project/program management experience
  • Successful track record of delivering results; good executive skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial agency rules, regulations and guidelines for security and business continuity planning and implementation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - Ability to manage expectations and interactions between business and technology organization as well as consult and advise clients
  • Timely escalation of critical and/or complex issues as required
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong presence, comfortable interacting with, presenting to and influencing senior management
  • Ability to influence peers and senior team leaders necessary to accomplish team goals
  • Proficient in handling multiple responsibilities and tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, demanding, team environment and ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Must demonstrate a great sense of detail, and have the ability to take on various duties in a short timeframe. Be able to take initiative when needed.
  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate / mediate / manage conflict and issues, proven team leadership and meeting facilitation skills
  • Must be available as needed to provide assistance during non-business hours
  • Certifications in Business Continuity Planning preferred
