Today's technology and volume of Big Data is more powerful than ever and extremely valuable in driving actionable insights for business, operational and strategic decisions across JPMC. The Data Network Architecture (“DNA”) team is a part of the Firmwide Data Management Office (FDM) led by Chief Data Officer Rob Casper.  DNA is responsible for delivering functional and technical capabilities in support of FDM’s mission to improve the quality, integrity and reliability of the firm’s critical data.  The organization’s objectives are to explain the path that critical data follows, improve data quality, reduce ambiguity and inconsistent terminology, enhance transparency, rationalize the number of replicated data assets and improve Firmwide sharing of information and best practices.

 

The DNA Lineage Operations team is responsible for developing and executing FDM’s strategic approach for data lineage, which describes the end-to-end flow of data from where it is created to where it is consumed.  Lineage Operations has two primary functions: (1) leading projects to meet the lineage needs of sponsored critical business initiatives and (2) designing and implementing operating model(s) for ongoing sustainment and enhancement of lineage metadata.

 

Responsibilities:              

 

Project Execution

        • Engage business and technology stakeholders to manually capture high level lineage data (known as Coarse-Grain lineage)
        • Analyse data flows and partner with critical business initiative stakeholders to develop key deliverables
        • Perform data quality checks, identify and resolve issues, and integrate with other data management tools and information
        • Support and where necessary project manage to ensure senior management and other stakeholders are fully engaged with data lineage status

Operating Model

        • Design and document lineage capture processes and develop guidelines and best practices
        • Develop and implement communications, training and guidance for users of the lineage capabilities developed by D.N.A.
        • Engage users and provide feedback and business requirements for the development of manual lineage capabilities

Qualifications

 

        • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Information Systems
        • Significant related work experience
        • Outstanding verbal and written communications
        • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
        • Proactive in identifying issues and recommending solutions
        • Motivated to work effectively in a high pressure work environment
        • Experience in Data Management, Data Strategy or Big Data a plus.
