About the Junius Funds Product Development

Within the J.P. Morgan Private Bank, a dedicated team of experienced fund structuring professionals manage the global product development of all private real estate transactions and real estate investment funds for Junius Real Estate Partners (“Junius”).  Junius operates as an investment boutique with a singular focus on executing higher return equity and debt real estate investments primarily in the United States.  The group combines the nimble investment sourcing, structuring, execution and asset management capabilities of a deeply skilled and highly focused boutique real estate investment manager with the fiduciary heritage, powerful infrastructure and vast resources of J.P. Morgan.
 
Junius identifies, analyzes, acquires and manages commercial, hospitality and residential real estate investment through a variety of ownership structures including public and private vehicles.  As investment manager on behalf of its clients, Junius develops, redevelops, manages and/or operates these investments.  Junius also assesses capital markets and controls investment risk in determining the optimal financing, diversification and disposition strategies for the managed real estate.
 
Particular attention is paid to tax issues relevant to both U.S. and non-U.S. investors. The platform’s innovative and comprehensive transaction structuring expertise increases the tax efficiency of alternative investments offered to clients and minimizes the adverse tax consequences often associated with these investments including passive foreign investment company (PFIC) and controlled foreign corporation (CFC) taxes for U.S. taxable investors, or effectively connected income (ECI) taxes for non U.S. investors.
 

Position Summary

The candidate assumes a pivotal role on the product development team, supporting the Senior Product Development lead in structuring transaction management and oversight of designated projects related to Junius.  Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate policies, laws and regulations for the business.  The position will require the candidate to interact regularly with senior Junius and J.P. Morgan Wealth Management executives, current and prospective clients and external service providers.
 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for product management from internal due diligence to fund launch.
  • Work closely with internal and external legal counsel to analyze and comment on offering materials including the private placement memorandum, subscription documents and partnership agreements. Review all legal documents. 
  • Assist with development of marketing materials including cover letters, flipbook presentation, and executive summary that present a clear, concise message that highlights key marketing points and investment considerations.
  • Educate and advise marketers and sales teams, ensuring they are equipped to support regional teams to answer questions regarding investment opportunity and structure.
  • Actively assist with the production and distribution of all offering/closing documents, legal documentation sign-off; and ensuring successful final closing including funding.
  • Coordinate ongoing relationship management with issuers, internal wealth management marketers and J.P. Morgan internal and external service partners (e.g., middle office and fund administration).
  • Primary contact for ongoing client interfacing, particularly with respect to co-investment due diligence coordination and data room management. 
  • Management and implementation of various business unit projects including IT enhancement initiatives. 
  • Actively assist in addressing ad hoc issues (e.g. limited partner amendments, defaults, performance issues, etc.).
  • Provide input and new ideas to contribute to the development and enhancement of investment platform business strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, laws and regulations for the business.
  • Development, implement and evaluate business unit’s policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g., JD, MBA)
  • Prior experience in real estate funds and/or investments required
  • Business and product understanding of real estate transactions and private funds (e.g., property management, transaction structuring, fund structures, market terms, tax considerations, etc.)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience managing detailed projects and project teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems and to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Flexible team player with ability to work independently
