Job Description:
The Legal Entity Controller's group is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the financial results of the legal entities in the location whilst ensuring businesses booking in the legal entities comply with the applicable regulatory requirements.
The LEC ensures that other functional areas execute their identified responsibilities in a manner that maintains the accuracy of the books and records, and escalates issues appropriately.
Riyadh LEC will ensure that day-to-day support of the finance function and regulatory agenda is met, strategize on future development of the finance and legal entity control function, including all expansion, in partnership with the Senior Country Business Manager and Local Management Committee.
Specific responsibilities inclue the following:
Oversight, Control & Governance
  • Full accountability for financial statutory filings, local tax returns and for financial information reviewed by the Board of Directors or other applicable committees.
  • Drives key control processes in location with primary focus on the General Ledger Reconciliation and Substantiation process (Balance Sheet, P&L)
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the control environment and adequate governance of the legal entities, working closely with Business Controllers, Corporate Accounts Payable and Tax
  • Member of Local Operational Risk Control Committee, Finance member of the Management Team and Local Management Committee.
Regulatory Reporting
  • Up to date with new regulatory requirements and ensure that legislative changes are analysed, understood and implemented as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with local regulatory reporting requirements and responsible for preparation of the legal entity regulatory filings, and formally signing off the legal entity regulatory filings
  • Manage the external relationships with regulators and auditors and participating in industry associations.
Planning and Reporting
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statutory filings, local tax returns and for financial information reviewed by the Board of Directors or other applicable meetings
  • Ensure the integrity of the books and records of the legal entities, to be executed with reference to the Legal Entity Control Standards.
  • Ensure the optimal use of Legal Entities and influence the Legal Entity rationalization structure, agenda and strategy.
  • Support the Senior Country Officer, COO and Treasury with the coordination of the regular balance sheet forecasting, 5-year planning process for the Region as well as with the preparation of the Financials for the Region
Policies, Processes and Procedures
  • Ensure good governance of the local finance function (e.g. job descriptions, procedures, CSAs, SLAs)
  • Proposes and implements best practice operational processes in consultation with SCBM.


  • Ensure that there is a mechanism in place to stay ahead of developments in relation to Tax and Audit where impact is Finance related
  • In the absence of a local Corporate Tax function support Corporate Tax to ensure good understanding and implementation of changes in local tax regulations.
  • Tax compliance and maintenance of close communication with the Tax Department.
Business Development
  • Reviews NBIA documents ensuring proper analysis of the impact of new business for the location (including regulatory, capital, accounting and financial aspects) and approve NBIA from a local regulatory perspective.
  • Understand legal entity implications of new business developments and changes in the regulatory framework.
People Management
  • Direct manager of a team of 1-2 based in Riyadh.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Understands and is able to apply accounting principles and policies to a line of business activities
  • Is able to understand the accounting and control processes for the line of business
  • Can demonstrate understanding of products, markets and business and operational control procedures
  • Good analytical skills, as demonstrated with use of appropriate techniques, solid command of business information, and clearly presented output and analysis
  • Excel literacy essential
  • Ability to carry out complex tasks under time pressure
  • Manages own time effectively. Can prioritise own work effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Presents information in a concise and clear manner to senior local management
  • Listens effectively and seeks clarification if appropriate
Qualifications and Experience
  • Academic and Professional Accountancy Qualification required
  • Practical experience in finance in a bank
